Gaming has in the recent years pulled interest of many people across the globe. For some, it is a source of employment in that they have set up gaming shops where they collect income for the services provided. Gaming has been sought of addictive has the games are designed in a way that you have to reach some achievements to unlock the next levels. Gamers spend a lot of time in this quest. Most gamers prefer a game that has more graphics hence giving them a better experience. In the past years, most game developers have been majoring on the development of games that the main characters are whites and of the male gender. In the discussion below we are going to discuss the effects of having a non-white protagonist.

Some characters are an identity of the game that they feature in. Changing the characters race will not be necessary as most gamers feel that they are attached to that original character. Taking an example with a game like rust. Every character in the game appeared to be a guy who is white and bald. With the recent development, they have introduced characters who are black. Research shows that most average gamers are whites and of the male gender. Statistics also show that African Americans play video games more than there whites counterparts. Most gamers feel that they need to connect with their characters in the game. Many argue that this connection makes their game more interesting as one can identify with the race of the key figures in these games. In the resent days game developers have made gaming much interesting by giving gamers to choose the color of their main characters. However other game developers feel that by doing so there is a loss of the gaming culture. The society is experiencing diversification a thing that should also be embracing in the gaming world. It sounds more ethical when these games are a racial inclusive.

The changing of demographics and diversification of color has changed this video games making it be the best inclusive art in the 21st century.

Others feel that changing a character's race does not affect the gameplay. It's just the color of the character that is changed but not the structure and graphics of the game. A character id developed to have different skills, and it is how you use them to unlock new levels. Hence color does not matter. Most gamers consider playing games that have better graphics so when developing a game consider that as the first priority. It does not make sense for gamers not to play a certain game because their characters are of a different race than theirs. ("Rust Alpha Review • Eurogamer.Net"). This doesn’t affect the sales of a game in the market. It is interesting to realize the resent game developers are considering to diversify their games in terms of race an genders. Lately, game developers have been advocating for this diversity as also it will result in more representation in the game. There will be a large audience for the game industry as it will result in more players who feel like they are not represented in this industry.

From the discussion above we have identified that gamers have different opinions on the effects of changing the race of a character in the game. So feel that it will affect their gaming experience while others think that there is no effect of this action.
