Good Morning my fellow peers. My name is Jourdan Press and over the next few moments I’ll discuss a student who has share a passion for music and a quest for science. Today I’ll go over how Matie Mullen’s familial background, has influenced competitive history as a gymnast and pushed her devotion to music. First I’d like to offer a bit of background on Matie’s family. Her mother is Dominican, and her Father is Irish. From a young age Matie’s family has consistently relocated, however Matie’s birthplace is Cecil, Puerto Rico. Her experience living in diverse cultures has pushed her recognize her competitive strengths. Leading me to my next point, Matie’s time as a gymnast. Her height and flexibility, allowed her to pick up the sport from a young age. Her skills became so great that she ended up competing. However this was not Matie’s passion, but it way have further aided her in recognizing her competitive spirit. Last I’ll discuss Matie’s true passion, music. Her enthusiasm for the trumpet began in a similar manner to her acquiring her barista position at Starbuck, the advice and influence of a friend. She first pursued a position in band as a result of her friend but fell in love with the marching band atmosphere and to this day still participates in marching band competitions. A few of her co-workers and her manager share her musical passion, and encourage her success. Even though Matie is studying to achieve a position as a Cardio Vascular Surgeon, she is not defined by her diverse background, competitive history, and will continue to always have a passion for music marching band.
