Guest Speaker Reflection Form
What did you enjoy most? What did you learn? Did it change anything about your perception of their career?
Speaker 1: Samuel Danner I enjoyed most how he seemed to really care about making a difference in other people. That is something I strive to do as a future teacher. I learned a good drive to being in education is to truly want to make a difference and be willing to strive to achieve it. This is how I hope I am as a teacher. It changed how I thought being a principal was a super stressful job, but it seems fun and fulfilling. I would actually consider being a principal now.
Speaker 2: Rebecca Corrigan What I enjoyed most about her was her drive to help kids by pushing forward and solving a problem she saw on her own. I am a big problem solver, so I enjoyed this aspect of her speech. What I learned from her was about her program and how it provides learning to kids that have juvenile rulings. I found this very interesting I had never heard of anything like it before. This changed how I view teaching kids in a school where they have previous offensives. It really did open up my mind to students who struggle.
Speaker 3: Kristen Jensen What I enjoyed most was how she does not have a teacher degree and really worked hard to be a teacher. It was truly inspiring because she had to work so much harder. I learned so much about being a teacher in a title 1 school, I hope to be a title one teacher for a while. I truly do want to teach in a low-income school, and she has inspired me to do so. She really changed my view on title one teaching, how it can really soften you as a teacher. She truly helped me realize the benefits of teaching title one schools.
Speaker 4: Hannah Starcher What I enjoyed most about her was she spoke from a place of experience and really highlighted what it is like to go through all this schooling and figuring out what you want to do. I learned a lot about what it is like to be a teacher in an elementary school, and the benefits of a master’s degree. I also learned winter springs elementary is title one school, I have been looking for a title one school in Seminole county. She changed my view on master’s degrees and how much that degree can make a difference in the job field. I am now considering getting a masters.
Speaker 5: Taylar Wenzel What I enjoyed most about her was even though she created this class basically, I did not feel like she was talking down to me. I feel sometimes people who have more experience talk down to others.
I learned a lot of combining the two worlds of literature and math, as she said we as elementary teachers teach a lot of different subjects, so it is helpful to learn how to combine subjects. She changed my view on being a UCF faculty member. It is so much more than I thought it would be, she really sparked my interest in it and I cannot wait to look more into it....
