This documentary is about those who are alcoholics. First, they introduce the problem with binge drinking. Seeing Kenzie drinking without controlling herself, lashing out, yelling at her friend, and breaking down really breaks my heart. Her reason to party is her breakup. Unfortunately, her friends do not say anything to stop her from partying so hard. She believes that drinking is the only way to interact with people and that making a fool of yourself is normal. The next topic is dangerous drinking. Mike’s son visited him for spring break, but all his dad is doing is drinking. He puts his son’s life in danger by drinking so much and not being responsible. His wife stabbed him, and he said that it was fine because it was a “drinking accident”. The next topic was moms drinking. Sometimes these moms’ responsibilities are too much to handle, and they turn to alcohol to numb themselves. The last topic was what is known as the end game. The man who they showed had a blood alcohol level of 0.43 which is severe and could cause death. He drinks while he drives, he goes to the hospital on a frequent basis, has tremors, stomachaches, and cramps. Not even a whole minute into the video and I was already shocked by the statement “there’s been a lot of close calls for all of us, but we haven’t gotten raped or murdered yet”. It is so crazy to me that this is the way some people think about alcohol and their situations with it. What I found challenging to learn was that less than 20% of people with an alcohol use disorder receive treatment. About 80% of those who became sober, within a year of sobriety they relapse. I did not realize that so many people did not receive treatment because I feel like that would be a super important part of making lives better. As for the percentage of people that relapse, I was purely shocked because I thought that if you go to rehab, you’d have a much easier time committing to being sober. Something else that really shocked me was that when you’re out in bars you have no idea how much you’re drinking. You could think that you ordered one drink but often times servers will give you more than the standard cup of whatever it is that you’re drinking. Your drinks add up without you even realizing. I think that people could watch this video and truly learn what it would be like if they drank uncontrollably. It grounds you in the sense where you know you would not want to be in these peoples situations.

Binge drinking is when girl have 4 or more drinks and guys have 5 or more drinks in one consecutive time of drinking. It accounts for more than half of the alcohol consumed by adults in the US. Less than 20% of people with an alcohol use disorder receive treatment. About 80% of those who became sober, within a year of sobriety they relapse. When you’re out in bars you have no idea how much you’re drinking. You could think that you ordered one drink but often times servers will give you more than the standard cup of whatever it is that you’re drinking. Your drinks add up without you even realizing.
