Description

Thomas Karas HIS 200: Applied History Southern New Hampshire University January 9, 2021 HIS 200 Writing Plan Progress Check 2 The topic that I have chosen was The Equal Rights Amendment. The Equal Rights Amendment was a pivotal point and time for the growth of the United States and giving equality to women that are allowed to seek equal opportunity when it comes to their marriages, employment, ownership of property and so on. The significance of this Amendment was to give equality to all citizens of the United States and to give the protections needed for women to give them the security they need to make sure they could live the lives they most deserve. The two secondary resources I would use be “The Equal Rights Amendment: What You Need To Know” (American Progress, 2020) as well as “Equal Rights Amendment” (Equal Rights Amendment, 2020) Why these were the tow secondary sources of my choice were based of the fact that these sources were created in 2020. Making the resources relevant in the present day when it comes to the continual ratification of the Equal Right Amendment. The similarities of the resources are that they have great explanations of the history of the amendment and how the Amendment is currently playing a role today to advocate women of the United States. What makes the sources different is due to how equalrightsamendment.org is a source that speaks about the most relevant content on the latest ratifications of the Equal rights Amendment and how one can contribute to help the acknowledgment and helps ratify the Amendment.

What makes them good sources to trust is due to how they are .org sites. This helps with knowing that these sites are used to gain good information by actual authors. In addition they have many resources that are on the sites on where they referenced their information. This shows that the information is factual and that it had come from other credible sources that the reference and acknowledge. I made my decision based off how they are on the first page of the search engine. That means that search engine prioritizes these resources based off of the credibility they have and that they can be trusted resources to get the most relevant information. The question that I would ask based of the primary and secondary sources found would be “Why hasn’t every state in America passed the Equal Rights Amendment”. That question s something that would drive me to find research based off each state that had either had passed and reasoning’s of how they hadn’t passed the Equal Rights Amendment yet. This would help me get the transparent information on what states have passed the amendment and if they have similarities to reasoning’s of why they had passed it and why other states have not passed it yet.
