The sport of cricket has been known to have significant historic elements. As stated by Caterson (2011) , cricket was recorded to be played within the 16th century with England being the first to develop the sport within schools, communities and households. Since the 18th century cricket became the country’s most popular and most played sport. Within the same century individuals started to realize that not only was cricket a great sport but it was also an opportunity to extend an excellent opportunity for betting. England being the first country to develop the game with minimal rules and regulations, the sport was at high stakes of being banned and was deemed to create appropriate rules in order to keep the sport alive. England and Australia, the two countries that are so indevoured and committed to the game of cricket. Other countries starting to feel that they are needing to introduce and incorporate the game within their countries to keep up with the competition between Australia and England. Cricket has also been known to be popular nowadays in India and south pacific countries. By 1975 over eight countries participated in the World cup which is now held every four years. India than taking out the world cup in 2011 with an increase of 14 countries participated within the event. The development and growth of cricket today differs from the way cricket was perceived as well as developed in the 1900’s. Cricketers these days are offered extensive programs to assist with player development as well as supportive rehab options for those who may face mental health issues. However back in history these services were not as popular not offered as technology was not yet discovered.
