Key Teaching Points Batting Positioning    

Side on the bowler Head upright, eyes level Feet should width apart Bat resting behind back foot pointing to first slip

Front Foot Shot      

Lean towards the ball Step forward towards the pitch of the ball Weight on bent leg High elbow Bats swings through with the ball “step, stop, swing”

Back Foot Shot   

 

Step backwards towards the crease Weight on the back foot Front leg slides towards back leg with heel raised and toes lightly touching ground (counter balance) Make contact with ball below eye level “step, stop, swing”

Fielding Catching:  Feet shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent  Head still and eyes on the ball  Use hands to cup the ball  Fingers point up (fingers to sky) if ball is above shoulder height, fingers point down (fingers to the ground) if ball is below shoulder height  Catch with sift hands, give with the ball.  “track (eyes and body), reach, give”

Ground fielding:     

Attack the ball (come forwards towards the ball) Main technique long barrier Drop one knee to the ground so the ball can’t go through Keep eyes on the ball Field the ball in front of the knee right under the eyes

Throwing 15

Hold the ball cross steam when throwing the ball. Stand side on to target and point fingers to where you want the ball to go Reach back with throwing hand Pull your non-throwing arm down and throw the ball Follow through across your body “step, point, reach, throw”

Bowling       

Turn side on to the target with the ball at the back. Head level Rock from front to back foot like a see-saw (windmill) Release the ball as you rock forward Front arm pulls past hip with bowling arm following across body “side on, reach, tip, windmill” “step, reach, roll, release”...
