COURSE DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES Within the HOD major, you will participate on many learning teams. HOD 1300 is designed to prepare you to become a productive member of work teams inside and outside an academic environment. There are seven major objectives of this course. • Comprehend research findings concerning the nature of small groups and the patterns of behavior and emergent properties associated with them • Experience an ongoing group process to which the theories and concepts can be applied • Examine the dynamics of both virtual and in person small groups and learn how to apply analysis process to both forms

Identify what you bring to the group as you develop your thinking and interpersonal skills Identify the impact of culture on behavior patterns in small groups Practice the role of participant-observation within small group situation and demonstrate this ability through presentation and paper assignments Identify and work through conflict within small group tasks
