Daniel Kohen, Vineet, James Bobek, James Wohlgemuth ICA #1 – Inequality Top 3 priorities: 1) Raised income and capital gains tax (on rich) 2) Make campaigns publicly funded and removed money from politics 3) Spend extra money on public education for our kids, including 4-year college The first and most important of three ways to close the inequality gap is to raise the top marginal income tax rate. In doing this, the federal government will use that money to distribute out to the rest of the country to build infrastructure, education, and other social services especially for the poor. We also must raise the capital gains tax because capital investments don’t progress the world in any way, and are effortless. The second of three ways is to make political campaigns publicly financed, therefore cutting back on the control that wealthy people have on the political process. Wealthy people have too much influence over the decisions that this country makes, often skewing lawmakers’ decisions to end up benefitting the wealthy even more. The last of these three ways to end income inequality in the United States is to use more government money on public education from 3 years old all the way through the 4 years of college. Doing this would enable America’s workforce to be the most skilled and educated workforce in the world. This will enable them to work in highly skilled jobbed and allow them to have the opportunity to create more businesses and therefore jobs that benefit the rest of the US. We would raise income and capital gains taxes to fund more social services in America, specifically in educating our children and publicly financing political campaigns....
