PREPARATION OUTLINE (INFORMATIVE SPEECH) Name: ID : Group : Title : Global Warming General Purpose : To Inform Central Idea : Global warming is causing the average global temperature to rise, which in turn is causing the melting of glaciers causing flooding, as well as the drying up of other water masses causing drought.

INTRODUCTION I. II. III. IV.

V. IV.

VI.

The Earth is warming and places are burning. Water is rising, and cities are flooding. For all this, global warming holds responsibility. – Attention getter Increased greenhouse gas emissions are the cause of global warming, and rising temperatures and more extreme natural disasters are the consequences of this. I have studied global warming problems and have figured out as much as I possibly can to offer an insightful dialogue on global warming. Global warming is an incredibly important issue for me because our world should remain healthy and stable, understanding what the destructive effects of global warming are and what can be done to help solve those effect is undoubtedly one of the most important aspects of our everyday lives. Scientists have concluded that human activity, primarily the burning of fossil fuels, is the major driving factor. – Stating established facts The destructive effects of global warming are slowly ruining the environment we live in.In a few decades, it is possible our Earth will be very uncomfortable to live on. Stating surprising fact. Global warming, the cause in the increase of the average global temperature to rise, which in turn is causing the melting of glaciers causing flooding, as well as the drying up to other water masses causing drought. – Central idea (thesis)

(Transition: We would be more likely to help minimize the effects if we know what impacts of global warming does so to the world we live in.) BODY I.

Line graph 1 shows the Arctic ice sea extent in area of ocean with at least 15% of sea ice. - Description A. The line graph reveals that the Arctic sea is declining by 3% or more every decade, and some climate models say that if carbon dioxide (CO2) levels continue to increase, the Arctic Ocean could be almost ice-free by 2050. B. Ice level grow and shrink in a regular cycle each year, but the current years’ ice curve in this graph is usually well below the gray median, or normal line for the year 1981 until 2100. – Analysis

C.

About 90% of the light gets reflected back toward the atmosphere when light hits the sea ice, but ice-free ocean water effects only 6% and absorbs the other 94% of the energy as heat. D. As a result, the land and ocean water reflects much less sunlight without the ice cover, and the light gets absorbed. Hence, the more ice melts, the more sunlight our planet absorbs, and the faster it warms. E. It has been concluded that between the year 1990 to 2100, the global temperature would increase by between 1.1 to 6.4 degrees Celcius. F. A research also mentions that we need to limit our planet’s warming to 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels because if we don’t, cataclysmic changes will be set in motion, resulting in destroyed habitats and irreversible harm to our planet.

CONCLUSION I. II. III.

Global warming will intensify over time and affects each and every one of us. Therefore, we should all be concerned with what is happening to our planet. If there is no interaction to this problem, we will soon be killed from the change in climate and natural disasters. - Summary A. It is impossible to stop global warming, but we still can reduce and slow down this problem. - Recommendation B. Good news is there are many ways to prevent global warming from worsening such as investing in energy-efficient appliances and reduce our consumption of energy and water by using these devices.- Recommendation C. We can also power our home with renewable energy or buying better bulbs such as LED lights that uses up to 80% less energy than conventional incandescent.

IV. Global warming is causing the average global temperature to rise, which in turn is causing the melting of glaciers causing flooding, as well as the drying up of other water masses causing drought. – Reinforce central idea V. It is the little efforts that we make, that could change everything. We were the ones who changed the world as it is, but now, it is time for us to change our world again for the greater good.– Concluding statement...
