Topic: Healthy Eating General Purpose: To inform Specific Purpose Statement: To inform the audience about the benefits of eating healthy. Central Idea Statement (Thesis): Today I will discuss the benefits of eating healthy.

Healthy Eating: Preparation Outline I.

Introduction A. Attention Getter: When thinking about eating, many people might think about the most delicious food they have in mind. B. Demonstrate Relevance: Everyone knows how important it is to eat healthy, but no one can explain why. Eating healthy can do so much for people. C. Establish Credibility: Although, it has been quite a while that I had vegetables, I’m here to inform you what those could do for your body. During morning time, I do urge myself to eat an apple because as they say, “an apple a day keeps the doctors away.” D. Central Idea Statement: That is why today I will discuss the main benefits of eating healthy. E. Preview Statement: Junk food may be appealing and provide that mouth watering refresh, but healthy food provides a healthy body that could prevent diseases such as cancer. F. Transition: First, I will begin with the first benefit of eating healthy.

Body A. Eating healthy can reduce your chances of heart diseases and cancer, which are the world’s most killers. 1. A good healthy meal can improve the phases of life, from functions of the brain to physical performance. (Healthline Media, Mawer). 2. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables helps protect the human heart. a. It’s good to eat greens as much as possible. It might not taste the best, but you’ll appreciate it in the end. Fruits are also healthy and way easier to be touched, because most have a sweet taste to it. 3. Fruits and Veggies are high in antioxidants which are chemicals that fight the cell damage that leads to cancer. Research suggests that getting these antioxidants from food works better than getting them from pills. (Healthline Media, Mawer).

Transition: As eating healthy improves the physical body, it also affects the mental health in positive ways. B. Eating healthy can improve mental health. 1. Eat only when hungry and stop while satisfied, because this keeps the blood sugar and energy levels in the right place. (SfGate, McLaughlin). a. this encourages positive moods and clear thinking 2. Foods that can help with bloody levels are rich in protein and fiber. a. protein: beans, lean meat and low-fat yogurt. fiber: oatmeal and raspberries

4 3. Sleeping problems often lead to mental illnesses and depression. By eating the right food, it is guaranteed you will get the sleep you need.

Transition: Since eating well helps with physical and mental health, it can make you likely to be more sociable. C. Eating healthy makes you more positive and confident to seek social activities. 1. Children who ate healthier showed more friendliness and social interaction than children who don’t. 2. A study was conducted at the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 linked good nutrition with positive social development in children. (McLauglin). 3. In 2018, researchers found that children who regularly had meals with their families ate more vegetables and fewer sugar foods than peers who ate at home less. (Medical News, Stuart).

Conclusion A. Conclusion signal: In closing, there are many benefits of eating healthy. B. Summary: Moreover while junk food can be mouth appealing, eating healthy can improve your physical, mental, and social health. C. Adequate closure: I think we can all learn a little about why eating it is important to eat healthy, knowing that it can be very beneficial to the human body and mind.
