Imaging when someone asking you what comes to mind when you hear the term “cat”. For sure, what most of us think first is an ordinary house cat. Well, have you ever thought of the Scottish fold ? A sphynx? Or even of the biggest mainecoon? These breeds of cats are not common where we live because some just from different states and others from different continents. Most of people may think that a cat is just a generic household pet, varying in a few different colors and patterns, but in reality, there are over 40 different types of cats from all over the world. Every cat breed has its own unique temperament, strengths, quirks, and fun facts.

(TRANSITION: Let’s start with the first types of cat which is Scottish fold.)

Scottish fold is the cats started with a single kitten named Susie, which was discovered on a farm in the 1960s. A. Scottish fold are a medium-sized, stocky breed that loves human attention from everyone in the family, but may focus their attention on one lucky person. B. Male Scottish folds weigh approximately 12 pounds, while females generally range between 8–12 pounds. C. Scottish folds are rare felines, prized for their huggable good looks. 1. These cats have rounded heads, short neck, and large eyes that give them an owl-like appearance. 2. Their coat is generally short and dense, but long-haired Scottish folds can also be found. 3. Colors include white, blue, cream, silver, black, cameo, and brown. 4. Coat patterns include solid, tabby, tortoiseshell, bicolor, spotted, and shaded.

D. When it comes to it’s personality, scottish fold cats are typically sweet, calm, easygoing, intelligent, loyal, adaptable and for sure they are social cats who enjoy human companionship. E. Scottish folds are not super active felines, so you won't find them climbing your curtains or leaping back and forth across your living room furniture. F. Because Scottish fold cats are not quite as active as other breeds, they can become overweight. (TRANSITION: Now,you already know about Scottish fold, you’re probably wondering about sphynx) In 1966, a domestic shorthair cat named Prune was born in Ontario. She was the first hairless kitten in the world. A. The sphynx, while considered a "hairless cat," isn't necessarily hairless and these felines are covered in a fine down coat that's hard to see, but immediately apparent as in super soft to the touch. B. Sphynx are considered a medium-size cat; females can weigh as little as 6 pounds, while larger males can tip the scales at 14 pounds. C. The sphynx cat's skin is often pigmented or patterned, just like a traditional house cat's coat. 1. Like furrier felines, sphynxes come in a wide variety of colors and markings. 2. From darkly colored black sphynx cats to patterned tortoiseshell kittens, there's no shortage of variety. D. These beautiful baldies are curious, outgoing, super smart, and aren't shy about communicating their needs-literally. E. Sphynx cats are silly, fun-loving, natural-born entertainers who will clown around to get your attention F. Because sphynxes are always walking around in the nude, these cats tend to be sensitive to the sun and the cold and if you live in a cold climate, keep your kitty warm with a fuzzy sweater or coat. Most experts speculate that the Mainecoon is descended from foreign long-haired cats brought ashore by early American explorers. A. The Maine coon is the largest domestic cat breed, and largeness is certainly one of its defining physical characteristics. B. The size of a typical Maine coon comes in at 10–16 inches tall and up to an impressive 40 inches in length. C. These sturdily built felines usually weigh 8–18 pounds and have muscular bodies with wide chests and solid legs. D. Maine coons come in a variety of colors and patterns. 1. You can find solid white, cream, red, blue, and black Maine coons. 2. You can find the pattern such as tabby, bi-color, particolor, tortoiseshell, shaded, and calico Maine coons. E. Other defining physical features are large pointed ears often topped with wisps of hair, expressive oval-shaped eyes, and a long, bushy tail.

F. Maine coons are soft, gentle giants who love to spend time with their humans and they also incredibly intelligent, fun-loving, and will keep their kittenish playfulness well into old age.

After hearing this informative speech, I hope it can help you to aware about the different types of cats especially to provide for the uniqueness when you become the owner of them. Every types of cats have their own characteristics, physical features and personalities.
