Hailee Andrews English 112-27 02/19/2020 Grade Inflation When in school, students try their very hardest to get the best grades. However, sometimes things do not go as planned and the grades are not the best as they could be. In a lot of places, grade inflation is available through extra credit or just when rounding numbers in the end. Here at Southern Connecticut State University, I do not find that grade inflation occurs as much as people would hope. From the people that I know that go here, I have heard stories about how students can be so close to a better grade, but sometimes are not given that extra point to push them over the edge. I find that grade inflation is not a problem at Southern or happens at all for that matter. Students tend to try their hardest but sometimes need that extra point to get them over the edge. Often times, faculty believe that the grade is exactly what the student has earned. However, that is not the case. Sometimes problems arise and students try very hard to get their grades up and take advantage of all the extra credit that is given. Sometimes, students do all of the work but are not great test takers so their grade takes in an effect to that, that is why students and faculty should be concerned about grade inflation. If administration at Southern were to limit the number of A’s that faculty were allowed to give students, I personally would be extremely frustrated. There should be no limit as to how many people would receive the best grade possible if they deserved it. You should get the grade you worked for and that should not be controlled by a policy limiting the amount of A’s faculty were allowed to give students.

I have never received a grade that I thought I did not deserve. Although I have received a grade that I felt was unfair. Grades should not be all about tests. If I do the homework and pay attention in class and participate that should make up for one bad test grade because sometimes life and family is more important than a test in school. Some people are also just not the best at test taking but exceed in homework and participation. These two should help your grade much more than a test....
