SUMMARY ON INTERVIEW SKILLS

UMUG career quest interview tool is a great tool that prepares his undergraduate students to have excellent interview skills. After practiced my interview through the UMUG interview stream, I watched my interview video a couple of times, and I noticed that concerning my nonverbal communication, I have a lack of eye contact. I did not fix the interviewer at all times. Eye contact is significant while you are conducting your interview. I need some improvement in that. I also noticed that I meet the expectation for self-confidence; I responded to the different questions with confidence and precision as well. But I should continue to work on my non-verbal communication by using the UMUG career quest tool to excel in my non-communication skills, which will help me to deliver an excellent interview for my job interview. On the other hand, the message content of my verbal communication meted expectations. I was responding precisely to the questions that the interviewer asked me. My responses were clear and concise. I noticed that I need to work on avoiding filler words. During my interview, I used several times the words ‘’like, umm’’, which is not a professional habit. I need to improve that area of my verbal communication. Also, English being my second language, I have some minor pronunciation problem that is something I need to work on as well. Overall, the interview stream has been a pleasant experience for me. By practicing a job interview through the interview stream, I’m now aware of the area that I need to improve for my interview skills.
