Description

TEACHINGS OF THE KKK AND SOME TEACHINGS THAT ARE USEFUL AND HELPFUL IN THE DAILY LIFE Lessons that KKK has delivered to us will always be meaningful and helpful in any aspect of life and any time. The teachings of the KKK include about being kind, having honesty, having equality, being true to his words, giving importance of time, doing what is right, knowing what to say and knowing what should be guarded, being respectful and so on. However, among those teachings of KKK, what I find useful and helpful in my daily life is about not wasting time. According to the teachings, lost riches may be recovered but the time lost will never come again. With that, I always live myself to the fullest, having bond to my family, friends and relatives, doing what I really want and lastly, helping the needy with the best I can do. I will always do those things to prevent the feeling of regret. REFORM MOVEMENT VS. KATIPUNAN MOVEMENT REFORM MOVEMENT

NATURE

The unjust execution of the three martyr priests led to this new era. It began in 1882 and lasted up to the early months of 1896 when the important Filipino reformists died.

AIMS

• Equal treatment of Filipinos and Spaniards under the rule of law. • Include the Philippines as one of Spain’s regions or provinces • The Philippines should have a representative in the Cortes • Secularization of Philippine parishes • Grant the Filipinos freedom of speech, expression, assembly, and filing of complaint against abuse.

METHODS

By the use of words in form of speeches as well as pieces of writing. They used literature to create change and, in this way, provide people with knowledge. Writer: • Jose Rizal (Laong-Laan) • Marcelo del Pilar (Plaridel) • Mariano Ponce (Tikbalang, Naning, Kalipulako) • Dominador Gomez (Ramiro Franco)

KATIPUNAN MOVEMENT Bonifacio then founded the KKK on July 7, 1892 in a house on Azcarraga street (now Claro M. Recto), in Tondo Manila. The Katipunan had colorful beginnings. As a symbol of the member’s loyalty, they performed the solemn rite of sanduguan (blood compact), wherein each one signed his name with his own blood. • The political goal was to completely separate the Philippines from Spain after declaring the country’s independence. • The moral goal was to teach the Filipinos good manners, cleanliness, hygiene, fine morals, and how to guard themselves against religious fanaticism • The civic goal was to encourage Filipinos to help themselves and to defend the poor oppressed. • They first used the triangle method on recruiting members. • Later on, since the triangle method was slow, Bonifacio allowed them to recruit as many members as possible • The First Edition of Kalayaan (the Katipunan newspaper) also helped a lot in recruiting more members.

• Antonio Luna (Taga-ilog) • Jose Ma. Panganiban (Jomapa)

RESULT

The arrest of Rizal as well as the fall down of the Liga Filipina began the weakening process of the movement. Shortly after that, in 1895, La Solidaridad stopped to be published and Lopez Jaena died. Moreover, even though some people tried to reestablish Liga Filipina, their actions ended in failure.

• In order to remain secret, they made different codes and countersigns • Countersigns: When two members meet on the road, one member will put his right palm on his chest and the other member will close his hand such that the index finger and thumb touch each other. Bonifacio was captured and found guilty of sedition and treason by the War Council. They were soon executed near Maragondon. Aguinaldo and his fellows soon established the Republic of BiaknaBato and drafted the first constitution. They came up with a pact that called for an end to the revolution, which was positively favored by the Spanish GovernorGeneral.

CONCLUSION: Wanting to have a freedom, Filipinos chose to do revolutions that made them fight until the end of their lives. Heroes such as Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio and other heroes with them chose to fight for the freedom even if in exchange are their lives. However, despite of the failures their revolution had been resulted, Philippines still succeeded and achieved the independence from the occupation of Spaniards....
