WOULD YOU EXPECT THE INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA ON PERSONAL OPINIONS TO LAST OVER TIME? WHY OR WHY NOT? (HINT: LINK YOUR ANSWERS TO INFORMATIONAL AND NORMATIVE INFLUENCE) It depends what you are presented with in the media, there are lots of different ways people interpret media and issues dependent on their opinions. So your personal opinions of issues will change over time. This is Informational social influence, we may change our beliefs or opinions based on information presented to us by others, if we are uncertain on what we think about an issue you may look to others, example looking online for articles ad opinions of others on a specific topic. Our opinions could change through speaking with others about

specific topics, to fit in or be liked, to avoid embarrassment and ostracism. We may conform to group norms to gain acceptance; this is normative social influence....
