Subject pronouns replace a noun that acts as the subject of a verb, such as: o yo (I) o tú (you (familiar)) o usted (you (formal)) o él (he) o ella (she) Plural subject pronouns: o nosotros (we (masc.)) o nosotras (we (fem.)) o vosotros (you (masc., fam.)) o vosotras (you (fem., fam.)) o ustedes (you) o ellos (they (masc.)) o ellas (they (fem.))
Ser means “to be” and is used to identify people or things o Singular forms: Yo – Soy (I am) Tú – Eres (you are (fam.)) Usted – Es (you are (form.)) Él – Es (he is) Ella – Es (she is) o Plural forms: Nosotros – Somos (we are) Nosotras – Somos (we are) Vosotros – Somos (you are (fam.)) Vosotras – Somos (you are (fam.)) Ustedes – Son (you are) Ellos – Son (they are) Ellas – Son (they are) Ser also expresses possession when used with the preposition -de o When -de is added with -el they form the contraction -del but this does not happen is -la, -los, or -las o You can also use -ser with -de to say where someone is from o You can also use -ser to express a profession or occupation but you cannot use an indefinite article like -un or -una after ser to express a
profession, but you do need on when there is an adjective or other description of the profession Example: Marta es profesora (not needed) - Marta es una profesora excelente (needed)...
