Introduction to Geometry Lesson Plan Overview: Students will learn the basics of Geometry. The students will first learn what the building blocks to Geometry are which are lines, points, and planes and how they make up shapes, and angles. Students will learn new terms. Objectives: Students will be able to look at shapes and identify where the lines, points, and planes are on them. Students will be able to identity each line segment on a more complex shape without repeating the line segment. Time: The warm-up will take about 5 minutes and the activity will take about 30-40 minutes, so a total of about 45 minutes. Materials: Students will need a pencil, a piece of scratch paper, some shapes, and their worksheet. Activity: The warm-up will start by the students getting some shapes and a piece of scratch paper. The students will trace the shapes and then name the lines and the points or corners. The students will then take more than one shape and trace them together to make a bigger more complex shape and leave the points and lines blank. The activity will begin by giving each students their worksheet and having them practice the first problem on their own. We will then come together as a class and look at the first problem. If anyone has any questions they can ask before we go over the answer this way I can see what they know and what they need help with. The worksheet consists of shapes such as a triangle with points A, B, C and the students would need to name each line segment. For example, AB, BC, CA would be the name of all the line segments without repeating any. As the problems go on the shapes get more complex with students naming the line segments, planes, and points....
