Identify quantity of the total amount of macro and micro nutrients required by the body on a daily basis. Classification of nutrients into two groups. Content Summary:

PROCEDURES Engagement: Students will watch a video entitled “Nutrients Song”. After the video, random students will be asked to give a brief overview of what the video was a about and how they think it is related to the topic. Elaboration:

Teacher will present a PowerPoint with the definitions of the terms related to nutrients to the class. Volunteers will be asked to choose a term and read the definition of the chosen term from the slide; after reading the definition, the volunteer student will be asked to share what the understood from what they have read. Teacher make clarification where necessary. Teacher will present a table with the two categories (Macronutrients & Micronutrients) on one of the PowerPoint slides, with the names of the different nutrients listed above. Taking into consideration the definition of each nutrients and the categories; student will be asked to choose a nutrient and suggest the category that is most appropriate for the chosen nutrient. Teacher will record each suggestion in the table; each student will have to say why they place that nutrient under the specific category. If the table is completed correctly, teacher will then present the slide with the completed table and engage the students in further discussion.
