Prenatal Senses and Learning After viewing the video and reviewing the Fetal Period section in Chapter 2 answer the following question: Pretend that you are an obstetrician and one of your patients, Diana, has asked your advice on a product that claims to give her baby a head start in learning words. The product is an audio CD that claims that playing the audio multiple times while the fetus is in utero will help it become familiar with words and learn their meaning. Based on what you know about fetus’ prenatal awareness of their external environment, would you recommend this product to Diana? Why or why not? What, if anything, could this product actually accomplish? Yes I would recommend this to Diana. By the end of the second trimester the baby responds to sounds, voices, music, and even showing a preference for familiar voices. Then in the third trimester this external awareness increases. During these last week’s playing a cd can help the baby recognize a preference. When playing that audio cd, they will recognize the sounds.
