2 to 6 mg/day given in divided doses the daily dosage may vary from 1 to 10 mg/day.

Contraindications/Precautions Contraindications: hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines or to any components of the formulation, acute narrow-angle glaucoma Precautions: compromised respiratory function, Elderly or debilitated patients, severe hepatic insufficiency and/or encephalopathy.

Interactions alcohol, barbiturates, antipsychotics, sedative/hypnotics, anxiolytics, antidepressants, narcotic analgesics, sedative antihistamines, anticonvulsants, and anesthetics

Nursing Interventions Teach patient other methods to decrease anxiety, like exercise, support groups, relaxation techiniques, etc Monitor Respiratory status, heart rate, blood pressure, and level of sedation

Client Education Take med as directed as it can lead to physical & psychological dependence

Evaluation of Medication Effectiveness Reduced anxiety

Do not abruptly stop taking this med Use caution while operating machinery
