Twin River Casino originally opened in July of 1947 as Lincoln Downs, a horse racing track with 8,500 grandstand seats. In 1977, Lincoln Downs was purchased and renovated into a greyhound racing track. Lincoln Downs was renamed Lincoln Greyhound Park and remained so until 2005, when it was purchased and renamed Twin River. BLB enlarged and renovated the existing space, keeping greyhound racing as an attraction and adding 4,751 video lottery machines. In 2007, BLB invested $220 million in renovations and expansions and renamed the venue Twin River Casino. In 2009, the owners declared bankruptcy and ceased greyhound racing, though the facility has remained open for gambling purposes. Ownership of the casino transferred to a group of lenders in 2010 and, in May of 2017, construction began on a hotel attached to the casino, which is predicted to open this summer. The renovated facility offers 162,000 square-feet of gaming space with over 5,000 gaming positions. The casino operates over 4,200 slot machines and virtual table games (including blackjack and roulette), as well as 119 live table games including blackjack, roulette, craps, a poker room and more. The casino features an event center that can hold 3,200 guests. Bottom picture shows a virtual table game.
