BUSINESS AND ITS SCOPE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND Most of the consumers nowadays are known in buying preserves and they might never outgrow of it. We, Filipinos, are very fond of sweet spreads or homemade fruit preserves with long-term storage and higher quality but healthy diets are still into it. They are generally health-conscious. This is the reason why some local companies are creating different preserves and jams. As related products when we speak of the word jam, strawberry jam is one of the first thing that comes in our mind, and pineapple jam as well. They are considered fruit jams or sweet spreads, yes, when it comes to taste, they really have a delightful one, but do they really provide enough nutrients for the body? This is one of the questions why the proponents come up with an idea of manufacturing another kind of jam. Jam is a thick mixture of fruit

pectin, and sugar that is boiled gently but quickly until the fruit is soft and has an organic shape, yet is still thick enough that t spreads easily and can form a blob. In addition to being a spread, jams are also good for fillings. It is one of the fastest and easiest things to make. Coconut fruit/Buko is our product’s main ingredient is the fourth most cultivated vegetable in the world. They grow naturally in tropical climates, but you can also plant one at home. Whether you plan to grow your coconut tree outside or as a houseplant, it's an easy process that will produce a charming addition to any yard or home. Promoting a healthy and convenient way of eating bread with flavorful spread by introducing our very own Buko Jam to the public consumers would also benefit not just the consumers with the health nutrition content it has but also helps the Filipino farming industries in the country as well. Philippine coconut jam is known as matamís sa báo (also matamís na báo or minatamís na báo, among other names). The names literally mean "sweetened coconut". It is different from other Southeast Asian versions in that it uses coconut cream (kakang gata, the first and second press of grated coconut meat) and cane sugar extract or molasses (treacle). It also does not use eggs and thus is more like syrup rather than custard. It is often eaten on toast or pandesal or used as a filling for pan de coco. When it is mixed with ground glutinous rice paste, it becomes a popular dessert known as kalamay.

BUSINESS PROCESS/BUSINESS FLOW

Sweetened coconut or Buko Jam is very easy to make. All you need are coconut cream, brown sugar, and patience. Yes, patience, as it takes a good few hours of gentle simmer to bring the sweetened coconut milk to the desired soft ball stage. But don’t let this deter you! If you use a non-stick pan and set your heat at the lowest setting, you don’t really need to man the stove other than occasional stir here and there during the early stage. Commercial coconut jams are readily available at most supermarkets, but trust me, nothing beats the joy of homemade. You get pure coconut goodness with no added preservatives!

Instructions 1. In a non-stick sauce pan over medium heat, combine coconut cream and brown sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently until sugar is dissolved and mixture is well-blended. 2. When mixture has come to a boil, promptly reduce heat to low and continue to cook, stirring frequently, until color darkens and mixture is very thick but spreadable. 3. Transfer jam to clean jars.
