Description

Candidate Final Presentation Topic (2022)

1. Topic 1 : What is quantum? 2022 Final report suggestion 1: What is quantum?

2. Topic 2: Is the photon really a particle? 2022 Final report suggestion 2: Is the Photon really a particle? Ref. Journal: Optik, Volume 237, July 2021, 166679 (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijleo.2021.166679 ) As outlined, the wave nature of the photon has been well-established by experiment and theory. This is not true for the concept of the photon as the particle. Radiation occurs; matter exists. Regarding the photon as a particle is to apply the ontology 本體論 of existing matter to occurring radiation. In particle physics, a massless particle is an elementary particle whose invariant mass is zero. [Wikipedia, Massless Particle]

3. Topic 3: What is Matter? 2022 Final report suggestion 3: What is Matter? Is massless particle counted as Matter?

In classical physics and general chemistry, matter is any substance that has mass and takes up space by having volume. All everyday objects that can be touched are ultimately composed of atoms, which are made up of interacting subatomic particles, and in everyday as well as scientific usage, "matter" generally includes atoms and anything made up of them, and any particles (or combination of particles) that act as if they have both rest mass and volume. However it does not include massless particles such as photons, or other energy phenomena or waves such as light or heat. [Ref. data Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matter ]

4. Topic 4: Wave-Particle Duality 2022 Final report suggestion 4: Wave-Particle Duality (from different aspects) In physics and chemistry, wave-particle duality holds that light and matter exhibit properties of both waves and of particles. A central concept of quantum mechanics, duality addresses the inadequacy of conventional concepts like "particle" and "wave" to meaningfully describe the behavior of quantum objects (ref. of these sentences: https://www.sciencedaily.com/terms/wave-particle_duality.htm )

5. Topic 5: Organize all experimental support for “Light as Particle” 2022 Final report suggestion 5: Organize all experimental support for “Light as Particle” Organize representative experimental support for the “Light as Particle” concept which were not included in class note/textbook around 1905 ~ now (need one organized table to write the all supports)

6. Topic 6: Hertz Experiment Explanation 2022 Final report suggestion 6: Hertz Experiment Explanation Hertz’s experiment proved the wave properties of light such as light speed, diffraction, and reflection … experimentally. Please explain the experimental setting & physics analysis & The influence of this experiment (You should consider some other literature besides Hertz experiment in your presentation)

7. Topic 7: What is Complementary/Complementarity Principle? 2022 Final report suggestion 7: Hertz Experiment Explanation Since Bohr’s elaboration, it has been extensively discussed in many branches of science. This principle states that two aspects of a quantum entity, such as wave and particle aspects, cannot be measured simultaneously in a single experiment with infinite precision....
