What did you hear? The orchestra first played the “Star Spangled Banner” composed by Francis Scott Key and I could hear the trumpets and flutes distinctively. I could also hear the violins as well. They then played “Procession of the Sardar” composed by Ippolitov-Ivanov. The flutes and oboes were the instruments that stood out the most during this piece. Also the violins produced a nice sound from the player bowing the strings back and forth. In their next piece, the xylophone produced soothing sounds. The song also had a nice tempo to it. The snare drum sticks out the most in just about every piece they play. One of their last pieces called “Romantic Symphony” composed by Howard Hanson, the flutes sounded beautiful and relaxing. Then the French horns come in and add that soft touch. But what I heard most was the violins, they had a mysterious sound to them. Then the French horn goes on by itself for a couple of notes then is joined back in by the violins. The French horn itself, sounded beautiful.

How did you feel about what you heard? I liked this performance. All the pieces had a good tempo and kept me entertained so I would not lose interest in it. My favorite song was “Romantic Symphony” because the French horns and violins sounded beautifully. The program did not seem as long as it was due to me being so focus on the music and not the time it took to play the music. As well as the tempo of the music. I did not find any piece they played to be boring or unentertaining. The audience was very respectful and applauded when appropriate....
