WHAT IS DIGITAL FOOT PRINT? WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS?...

Description

Most of our time is spent using and interacting with social media. Social media was designed to be a new platform for communication, but with what we have now, we tend to overuse and misuse it. I recall when I first started using Facebook and filling out my bio with as much information as I could. My social media account includes my birthdate, address, school, email, phone number, and full name. But today, with all of our advanced technology, they have this thing called a digital footprint, which saves your history, text messages, liked posts, tagged photographs, and other information. Everything about you that is publicly accessible on the internet is known as the digital footprint. All of your online activity leaves a trail that may be traced back to our digital footprint. It's possible for something to remain online indefinitely once it's been uploaded or shared. Considering your digital footprint allows you to control what you post online. Are you one of those who loves to sit back and scroll all day on your social media? If that is so, your positive online interaction is blocked negatively. There are a lot of barriers to be considered in using social media since it is vast, it turned out to have more negative impact than positive one. Some social media users don't have enough knowledge on this platform and lack control on what can happen. There are also users that used to misinterpret others, illegally copy others work, security threats, and also anonymity. Of course, there is also an addiction to using social media which is really prevailing in our times today. When the pandemic started, there were a lot of individuals that joined the bandwagon in using different social media, such as Facebook, twitter, instagram, tiktok, and other interactive and influencing platforms. We are guilty that we abuse the use of it to the point that some use it in a bad way. Not just because it is trending, influencing, and free it is still important to have limitations and make boundaries for our own safety and security. As a student, who uses social media every day, it is really evident for me what it brought and how it affects one's life. I admit that I am one of those who spent much of their time scrolling down through it. But every time I over use it I feel guilty and it made me think of a way to lessen my use of it. To make something better, we have to be aware and be mindful of the negative impact of such things, so others won't have to repeat the mistake you have made. Everything we do in social media are recorded, but we can still manage if we want to. It's upon us if we go for the good one or choose the wrong path which can lead to a big problem of all. It is not enough to think before you click, but information must sink in first before clicking on it....
