Title of the Project “Plastic Bottles for A Cause” (A Fund Raising for Community Affected by Calamities) II. Location This project will be conducted at San Antonio, Sto. Tomas, Batangas. The municipality is classified as an agro industrial town with the First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) and the light Industrial Science Park (LISP) situated at the urban area. This is also known as the progressive gateway to the province of Batangas.

San Antonio is a barangay (district) of Santo Tomas, Batangas. This location was approximately 8.9km from the start of the President Jose P Laurel Highway. Further, it was chosen because this has a lot of households where plastic bottles are seen as a trash wherein it will benefit the proposed project.

III. Duration/Time of Implementation This project will be last up to 14 hours of plastic bottles collection. The first attempt of collection will be conducted on December 19 where proponents will collect plastic bottles on each household for 7 hours from 8:00 am to 5pm. The last 7 hours will be held on December 20 at same time slot. IV. Type of Community Extension Service Food, Health and Sanitation V. Department/ College Involved The department involved in conducting this project is the College of Information and Computing Sciences under the program of Batchelor of Information and Technology where the proponents are taking 1st Year in Batangas State University - JPLPC Malvar Campus. Moreover, CICS is aiming to shape globally competitive computer magnates as they develop their professional skills. VI. VII. Cooperating Agencies/ Partners 1. San Antonio, Sto. Tomas, Batangas Barangay Officials Barangay officials will encourage and persuade the barangay's inhabitants to be good citizens and aspire for a better life by helping the proponents in collection of plastic bottles. Also, they will serve as the proponents’ guide for making the program possible. 2. Youth Volunteers Youth volunteers includes Sanguniang Kabataan officials and officers, students and other unemployed youth who are willing to help in collection of plastic bottles. 3. Sto. Tomas Facebook Page To share awareness and disseminate information to a certain barangay, the official Facebook page of Sto. Tomas will be in charge to inform the barangay San. Antonio that there is a community program will be held. Also, it is there responsibility to respond on the comments and messages related on the said community project. 4. Active Donation Drives in Batangas Donation drives/charity will serve as the instrument by the proponents to help the community who are highly affected by the recent and upcoming calamities. On the other hand, it is the proponents’ responsibility to assure that the selected charities are legit and accountable.

VIII. Beneficiaries 1. To the Victims of Calamities The main beneficiary of this project are the victims of the calamities that happened and will happens in the country. This aims to help them and give their basic needs. IX. Total Cost of the Project

X. Rationale of the Project Natural disaster is an event wherein the casualties and damage done was made by natural causes such as earthquakes, hurricanes and floods. One of the reasons why Philippines is prone to natural disasters is because the Philippines is located along the Ring of Fire or the preferred term which is the typhoon belt wherein many earthquakes and eruption will occur within its premises. According to the studies of the German development group (Alliance Development Works, 2013) the Philippines is ranked third based on their global risk report index, and storms are not the only disaster that can approach Philippines but volcanic eruptions, floods and earthquakes as well. In lined with this, this project “Plastic Bottle for a Cause” was conducted to help those people who are affected by recent and upcoming calamities in the Philippines. This fund-raising project could use to buy necessity things like food and water to give people who are in need. Further, proponents believed that, with this simple project, this will make a changed to get up from a nightmare caused by calamities. Lastly, this project will be conducted on Barangay Antonio, Sto. Tomas, Batangas. In the reason that this area has a lot of population which can contribute for the collection of plastic bottles from different households. Moreover, there are a lot active youths who can be volunteers for this community project. The active participation could help a lot for a big progress on the success of the said project. XI. Objectives This project aims to help the victims of calamities by giving them the enough resources of food, water and other necessities by conducting a collection of bottles on a certain barangay in Sto. Tomas, Batangas. Specifically, the following are the specific objectives: 1. To access the needs and necessities of the communities who are affected by calamity. 2. To disseminate information through online, posters and flyers on this on-going project. 3. To gather volunteers and making this project possible.

4. To collect plastic bottles in San Antonio, Sto. Tomas, Batangas and get value that can feed more than 200 families per barangay.

XII. Description of the Project “Plastic Bottle for A Cause” is a fund raising under community extension service where plastic bottles would be collected at Barangay San Antonio in Sto. Tomas, Batangas and exchange it to money to help communities who were affected by recent and upcoming calamities in the Philippines. The said project can be a way to alleviate the hunger and thirst of some of our countrymen affected by disasters. XIII. Strategies and Methods/ Plan of Action The proponents will be having a program to gather volunteers regarding the project. XV. Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanics Barangay. San Antonio staff and Sanguniang Kabataan, and project coordinators will carry out the monitoring and evaluation of the project activities. However, every effort will be made to involve concern Municipality officials and community group in the monitoring and evaluation process. Evaluation of the program will be conducted towards middle and the end of the project. Periodic progress reports will be submitted highlighting the progress of project implementation, lessons learned and the course corrections needed to address problems. XVI.
