Tuesday, March 29, 2016 Abstract for Essay Two 1) Motivation/Problem Statement  Comparison essay between Julian of Norwich, the Gospel of Matthew and the discussion of sin.  Title of Paper: Julian of Norwich, Matthew and the Nature of Sin 2) Methods/Procedure/Approach  I’ll be comparing two passages from Julian of Norwich and two passages from Matthew.  The passage is being compared will all relate to the discussion of sin  I will compare how the discussion of sin is different in each text based on the different ideas and language.  I will be explaining the two passages from each text on its own then relating the two text in a separate section.  I will incorporate the core question of what our relationship is to God throughout the introduction and conclusion. Chosen Readings: Julian of Norwich: Pages 27 and 79 Matthew: CHAPTER 18: TEMPTATIONS TO SIN & A BROTHER WHO SINS 3) Results/Findings/Product • I will find possible comparisons in the textual discussion of sin • I will find different ways in which sin can teach an individual a lesson involving how to improve his or her relationship with God. I will also find possible questions that are raised. 4)

Conclusion/Implications A theme that is discussed by both Julian of Norwich and Matthew is the discussion on the nature of sin. Both authors provide insight through specific passages when confronted with the issue of sin. In Julian of Norwich and through the gospel of Matthew we have insight to a core question which is asking what our relationship is to God. Through context, it is clear that we must realize that sin is evil. By comparing both texts the authors construct ideas based on the notion as to why this theme is essential to keeping a close relationship with God....
