Rubric for Final Paper SUMMER 2017 Introductory Psychology Due date 2 July by 11:59 pm 100 points can be earned Headers, Cover Page, Font and Spacing 0 No headers, spacing errors, incorrect information on Cover page and not double 10 headers are inconsistent, page number in the wrong spot etc. 20 Headers and page numbers are correct, Cover page is correct, everything is double spaced and in 12 pt. Times New Roman Font Page length 0 Not at least 3 pages of double spaced text (2.5 pages would be a zero) 10 At least 3 pages of double spaced text Introduction 0 No attempt to describe the question or explain the relevance. 5 An attempt to explain the research question was made but it is not clear. 10 The topic is defined clearly and several sentences help the reader understand the relevance of research question Using Research Findings 0 No research results are used – only opinions are presented 10 Some results presented but too many statements like “the results showed that the experimental group scored higher” were made without the supporting data. 20 Statements that help answer the research question are regularly supported with presentation of data (percentages, means, correlations etc.). Spelling, grammar and readability 0 – Many incorrect words or sentences – too hard to read 5 – some spelling and grammar errors 10 –No spelling or grammar errors Citations 0 – poor attempts to cite your sources 5 – not enough citations or most citations were not in APA style 10 – All facts are cited and the citations are in correct APA style in parentheses at the end of sentences. No article titles are presented in the text of the paper Flow 0 Just a review of article 1 then article 2, then article 3 with little explanation of how they are related 5 Attempt to answer the research question but poor transitions between topics. 10 Nice discussion of the research question that addresses at least two subpoints or two points of view. Reference Section 0 Reference section not present 5 References are there but there are multiple problems 10 Reference section is labeled “References,” they are in alphabetical order, the information is in correct order and Journal names and volume numbers are correctly italicized.
