: I would like to inform people about the importance of sleep among college students.

Central Idea

: Sleep plays a vital role for an individual. Sleep is essential for a person’s health and well-being. We need to sleep to survive for the next day. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental, health, physical health, quality of life, and safety.

INTRODUCTION I.

(Attention Getter) Let us sit back and think are we having enough sleep nowadays, with assignments, projects and work piling.

(Credibility Statement) According to the Journal of American College Health, when students try to play “catch up” on the weekends by sleeping more, it messes up the circadian rhythm of the body. This is a 24- hour cycle that is important in determining the sleeping and eating patterns of all animals, including human beings.[CITATION Tro00 \y \l 1033 ]

(Background of Topic) Students and sleep seem to have an antagonistic relationship. Disruptions in sleep and college life often go together due a combination of stress, coursework and social activities. The speech will give the students useful information about the dangers of not getting enough sleep and also some useful tips on how to get a good night sleep.

(Relevancy Statement) I am very sure that most of us have the experience of sacrificing our precious sleeping order to meet with life demands. After doing some comprehensive research for this topic, realization hits me that getting adequate sleep on a daily basis for students is very important in real life.

(Preview) Today, I am targeting to persuade all of you to understand the importance of sleep to college students by knowing the effects on academics performance and suggestions of getting adequate sleep. Transition: Now that you're aware of the overview, let's begin with the effects of sleeping hours to academics performance.

students of UTAR Kampar campus according to the amount of sleeping hours they have. Students are likely to obtained highest CGPA score range of 3.50 to 4.0 when they obtained seven to eight hours of sleep per day. [ CITATION Adm17 \l 1033 ] 2. (SUB DETAIL) According the bar graph, the lowest sleeping hours per day will not influence students for a better academic performance. It is because only a student who achieve good CGPA, 3.00 – 3.49.
