I would like to express my deep and sincerely grateful to my lectures on Public Speaking (COM165), Miss Nur Fazlina Binti Haris for allowing me to do this assignment. Thanks for her patience, support, advice, and guidance. I appreciate all her work for teaching and explaining the assignment through this Online Distance Learning (ODL) session. My completion of this assignment cannot be done without support from my classmates and friend for allowing me to give me some of your time. Thanks to my family as well for always give me the courage and pray for my success.

INTRODUCTION The topic that I have chosen for my persuasive speech is “More recycling should be encouraged”. In my speech, I talk about the definition of recycling, the type of waste also how to encourage people to do recycling. The reason why I choose this topic for my speech is that I want people around me including my family and friend to know and understand about recycling. I also want our country to be clean and beautiful wherever you go you do not see any waste like Japan. I want us to be responsible and recycling can save the earth.

Topic: More recycling should be encouraged

Specific purpose: To persuade my audience about there are many ways to encourage people to do recycling.

Central idea: Recycling must be inculcated in every person and encourage them to always do recycling.

Introduction

a. Attention-grabbing material: “Pollution is nothing but the resources we are not harvesting. We allow them to disperse because we’ve been ignorant of their value,” said R. Buckminster Fuller. Nice to meet you, my name Nur Farhana binti Sinaning and I am your speaker today.

b. Credibility material: I have done some research on recycling about how to encourage people based on Al Sigman and Glory Moralidad.

c. Thesis and preview: In this topic, I will talk about ways to encourage people. First, adding recycling bins in public areas. Second, teach recycling to children along with their parents. Third, create and host a recycling day in the neighbourhood.

(Transition: Now let go through ways to encouraging people to do recycling.)

Body

a. Main point 1: Firstly, adding recycling bins in public areas. 1. To begin with, a lot of people consider choosing the path of least resistance. If anything seems burdensome, people might well feel that they have no energy or time to carry into it. To create recycling an easy option, consider buying a few recycle bins and strategically arrange them beside the garbage cans throughout parks, parking lots, piers as well as plazas. Because once people are throwing away their trash, they will need a few seconds to plan whether to recycle it. Better yet, visit a local sidewalk collection program. 2. At the same time, you could be eligible to purchase extra recycling bins for the neighbourhoods without any fee with you, as well as the raw materials in order could pick up the garbage on the daily basis. If the area lacks a simple recycling program, discuss with the nearby waste collection and waste management firm. They might well assist in establishing general waste reuse and recycling service for your local area. (Transition: Now that we have covered the first point, let us move to the second point.)

b. Main point 2: Next, teach recycling to children along with their parents. 1. At the present time, children need to learn to recycle at such a young age. As the result, once the habit has been created, they can recycle for the rest of the time. In contrast, children have a natural passion that can spread to their parents, relatives, and friends. 2. In other word, if you would like to trigger a passion for recycling, provides to help educate regarding recycling in your neighbouring elementary and middle schools. You can maintain your lectures short and simple in classrooms, or you could just take part in even bigger events with special guests in the lecture hall. Start reaching out along with your school's teachers and principals for guidance, authorization, and planning advice.

c. Main point 3: Finally, create and host a recycling day in the neighbourhood. 1. In the first place, what are better ways to enhance and improve your neighbourhood than cleaning it up and decorate it with the materials made from recycling. On the day of recycling, you can bring some tools for you to make a DIY thing. On the other hand, you can guide other on how to make DIY thing. For example, you can make a gorgeous hanging garden from plastic bottle. 2. Meanwhile, getting the community together and start cleaning up your neighbourhoods is really a good opportunity to bind and achieve the organizational goals. Besides collecting trash, you could also take another step further using high vacuum services to remove the certain sludge as well as debris that may have been built up throughout the pipes of your neighbourhoods.

Conclusion

a. Signpost: To sum up, I have shared you about the ways to encouraged people on recycling. Besides, there are more ways on encouraging people that I have not talk about. b. Summary: This show on how important recycling in our daily life, not only it can make our neighbourhood clean and beautiful, it also can save our earth from global warming and reduces pollution. Like Catherine Norton said, “We can’t buy our children a new planet”. Thank you for listening my speech.
