PURPOSE OF MEDICATION
Expected Pharmacological Action Reduce spasms of muscles
Therapeutic Use Used to prevent spasms of the urinary tract associated with neurogenic bladder.
Complications dizziness, drowsiness, agitation, confusion, halucinations, headache, blurred vision, hoarseness, chest pain, edema, tachycardia, constipation, dry mouth, nausea, abd. pain, anorexia, diarrhea, dysphagiam, thirst, urinary retention, reduced sweating, flushing
Medication Administration PO 5mg 2-3 times daily starting to max dosage of 30 mg/day
Contraindications/Precautions Hypersensativity, uncontrolled angle-closure glaucoma, Intestinal obstruction or urinary retention. use caution with hepatic and renal insuficiencies.
Nursing Interventions Monitor I&O and voiding patterns. Monitor for dystention. Catheterization used to assess post void residuals.
Interactions anticholinergics or medications with anticholenergic properties, additive CNS depression with other CNS depressants. Sedative withantihistamines, alcohol, antidepressants, and opiods. Client Education Evaluation of Medication Effectiveness releif of bladder spasm and associated symptoms in patients with neurogenic or overactive bladder.

-Take as directed and mssed doses ASAP unless almost time for next dose. -May cause drowsiness - Avoid alcohol or other CNS depressants - Stop medication and call provider if swelling of hands, feet, face or throat.
