Description

Once you have completed the interviews/interviewing P5 Complete a SWOT analysis on your performance in the interviewing activities       

You have completed a SWOT analysis in your other units. It is a tool that is used to assess a situation at a given time. You need to complete a SWOT analysis of your performance in the interview. Strengths refer to the aspects of the interview you were good at. Weaknesses refer to the aspects of the interview you were not so good at. Opportunities refer to the benefits this process provided. Threats refer to the drawbacks this process provided

   

Strengths and Weaknesses For this section you need to look at the feedback forms you were given You need to explain what your strengths were and what you weaknesses were. You will need 3 for each.

     

Opportunities A chance to practice your interview technique in a room with people you are comfortable with. A chance to listen to yourself in an interview so that you can assess the strength of your voice. Get expert feedback off your teacher. Your teacher will have been on many interviews and conducted interviews themselves. Learnt how to structure a model answer for an interview question to keep the interviewer engaged. Opportunity to be an interviewer. You get to see what it is like from the other side. This is not something that usually happens until a person’s mid twenties. Pick any 3 to explain. Threats

  

Informal setting. Despite setting the room up formally and creating a sense of professionalism, nothing could ever prepare you for the real thing. You were interviewed by your peers. Do they have the appropriate level of skill to ask engaging, tough fair questions. You were given observational feedback by your peers too. How valuable was this? How good are they at taking notes whilst observing? How interested were they? How objective are they? Too kind? Too supportive? Explain each point

P6 Prepare a personal skills development plan for future interview situations • • • •

You now need to come up with a clear plan of action to help you improve your interviewee skills. It will obviously be personal to your own skills and progress so far. I will provide you with a number of general points that could be useful. The key is to explain how they could help you improve.

Development Points • Ask your teacher to focus their questions in class discussions on you. How will this help you develop as an interview candidate. • Practice doing interviews with your close peers. • Practice doing interviews with peers you are not close too. • Practice doing interviews with your teacher. • Practice doing interviews with a teacher you do not know. • Ask your teacher to get a guest speaker in, one who specialises in interviews. • Watch interviews on Youtube such as the Apprentice interviews. • Watch entertainers like comedians or people with a youtube channel. Make a note of how they use their voice to engage with the audience

M3 Analyse the results of the process and how your skills development will contribute to your future

• • • •

You now need to analyse each of your points from the development plan. What are the consequences of you acting upon them. Why will it benefit you? What will be the consequences of that benefit? Please avoid phrases such as “the benefits of this will be to help me get a job”. Explain specifically why it will help you get a job....
