I needed to have a paraprofessional certification or associate's degree 4. Do you work with special education students? Yes I do 5. Does the school or school system have training for you? Very minimal, everything I have learned was from other paraprofessionals and teachers I have worked with along with learning on the job through situations I have been in with the students I have worked with 7. If so, what training content do they offer? I only got a minimal training when I started in 2019 of strategies to use and positive reinforcements. 8. What curriculum is being implemented? The curriculum that is used are the ga standards of excellence which in the classroom we have to teach but implement and break it down to the needs of our students who are self contained 9. Paraprofessional Interview Questions 11. What guidance techniques have you found helpful when assisting special needs children? The techniques I have found helpful with assisting special needs children are getting to the child's level by first getting them to calm down whether it is using the breathing ball technique, playing with fidgets or just a cool down quiet area then assisting with the problem or issue they are having to assist in finding a solution. 12. How would you address a situation if a child has a tantrum or a meltdown? 13. How would you build a positive relationship with a teacher who likes to keep control in the classroom? I would build a positive relationship with a teacher who likes to keep control in the classroom by speaking with the teacher and getting all his or her expectations and overall way of how he or she wants the classroom ran then follow those and if something were to come up that is not in how the teacher runs the room then I would speak and consult with him or her as the situation or circumstance arises. 14. If a student is having difficulty reading, how would you help him/her? 15. If a student tells you, he/she does not understand how to do something, what would you do? 16. What is the due process/referral system in your school? 17. What would you do if the teacher did not want to refer a student? 18. What else do you think I need to know in order to be a paraprofessional? Being a paraprofessional for me is very rewarding but at the same time it is not easy as there are days and moments that can be really difficult but I enjoy working with the students I work with especially seeing the tremendous growth that happens from the beginning of the year to the end of the school year....
