Commonality One commonality that was noticed after going through the data from Chapter 4 Analysis Data Set that the top ten states average length of stay was about 6-8 days. The states that were below the top ten average length of stay was from 4-6 days. The average of the 40 states was 5.47 and the top ten was 8.5 in New York and 6.35 in Wyoming which were the ones that had the top ten average of 7.36. These are highest states with the most length of stays.

Statistical Process Tool

Statistical Process Control (SPC) determines how the performance is measured and is a useful tool, it also determines that quality and correction that can happen in the process (Ross, 2014). The data that was given for this activity this would help to address the organizations performance, and the length off stay. The SPC tool can help find the reason for the longer length stays and come up with an appropriate plan of action in order to improve the length of stays. Once a plan is made the SPC tools will continue to look for the effectiveness in the stays and results of data that are collected.

Solving Organizational Problem The tools that were used for this data can help focus more on finding problems and changes in the systems and what effect they may have (Ross, 2014). When the probably gets corrected the tools can be used to help determine if the changes made can create an improvement. One way that this tool can be used in this activity is by finding the reason for the organizational problem and lack of communication in a healthcare setting is by using ChiSquare. Chi-Square is used to find if there is a statistical connection with two variables. This tool is used to find problems and causes and if helping was effective in methods used. According to the data in this activity they used the length of stays in the hospital as a problem, and a cause would be viewed and see if they can provide a patient with treatment and care and if it was effective. This same tool can be used to make a way to lower the communication issue and find a better source to find an effective way to communication with patients, providers, and employees of the healthcare facility.
