Written Assignment Unit 2: Peer Assessment Peer to peer learning is an educational practice in which students interact with one another to attain educational goals (UoPeople, 2020). In addition to the course instructor’s supervision peer to peer learning gives new insights and directions to students by other students. When a student assesses his/her friends’ assignment they can get many other answers, perspectives, and attitudes from the other students answer. So, the student can learn from comparing the assessed student’s answer and his/her own answer to the same work (UoPeople, n. d.). UoPeople uses peer assessment model in order to improve its students critical thinking skills and share each other’s perspectives (UoPeople). This helps students to gain the experience they would have gotten, if they were in a physical class room. Because, if they were in a class room students can learn from each other in a room by communicating and participating together. But in an online system this doesn’t happen unless and otherwise UoPeople use peer to peer learning and/or peer assessment method. This is a key element of how learning and community are emphasized at UoPeople (UoPeople, n. d.).

From the benefits of peer assessment, we can mention that students can share new ideas, dimensions, insights or perspectives with each other. This action gives students skills that prove, they have the necessary skills in their academic and/or professional careers (UoPeople, 2020). It helps to create an environment in which the students from the whole world are together in an online platform to share their experiences each other. They can get what they miss from being in a physical classroom. It helps them to adapt working with global community and engaged in a team work. In most workplaces, it is not only the “boss” who gives comments, feedback, suggestions, and constructive criticisms but one’s peers as well (UoPeople, 2020).

During my last week peer assessment, it was challenging to assess other students work. It is easy to rate from 10 their work, but giving them feedback was hard for me. Cause it was hard to be sure about “have I got their idea?”. So, I tried to understand what they written and compare it to the asked question then told them, what I felt about it in sweet words. Receiving peer feedback needs to deal with the emotions about the feedback. Depending on the given feedback we might use feedbacks to make changes in our works, otherwise we just thinking about them over and over again (McGill University, n. d.). After reading the assessment that I am going to assess carefully, I will compare it with the desired things from the question, or I will check if the answer addresses all part of the question. When I get missed instructions and details, I note them carefully to mention them in my feedback section. So, as it is stated in UoPeople peer assessment model, I rate their work and give them a constructive feedback. Word count: 542 words
