1. What does it take to be a perfect leader? You may use online resources to enrich your answer. (Do not forget to include proper citation.) A great leader have these identified qualities: 1. Vision “Good leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion.” – Jack Welch Great leaders has the ability to see the big picture of where something is headed, what it's capable of, and what it will take to get there. 2. Courage “Courage is rightly considered the foremost of the virtues, for upon it, all others depend.” – Winston Churchill One of the more important qualities of a good leader is courage. Having the quality of courage means that you are willing to take risks in the achievement of your goals with no assurance of success. Because there is no certainty in life, every commitment you make and every action you take entails a risk of some kind. 3. Integrity The 34th President of United States, Dwight. D. Eisenhower once said, “The supreme quality of leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office.” Integrity requires that you always tell the truth, to all people, in every situation. Truthfulness is the foundation quality of the trust that is necessary for success. 4. Humility “The more you can contain your ego, the more realistic you are about your problems. You learn how to listen, and admit that you don’t know all the answers. You exhibit the attitude that you can learn from anyone at any time. Your pride doesn’t get in the way of gathering the information you need to achieve the best results. It doesn’t keep you from sharing the credit that needs to be shared. Humility allows you to acknowledge your mistakes.” – Larry Bossidy Great leaders are those who are strong and decisive but also humble. Humility doesn’t mean that you’re weak or unsure of yourself. It means that you have the self-confidence and self-awareness to recognize the value of others without feeling threatened. It means that you are willing to admit you could be wrong, that you recognize you may not have all the answers. And it means that you give credit where credit is due. 5. Confidence To be an effective leader, one should be confident enough to ensure that others follow their commands. If one is unsure about their own decisions and qualities, then their subordinates will never follow them. As a leader, you have to be oozing with confidence, show some swagger and assertiveness to gain the respect of their subordinates. This does not mean that one should be overconfident, but should at least reflect the degree of confidence required to ensure that their followers trust one as a leader. 6. Cooperation The ability to get everyone working and pulling together is essential to success. Leadership is the ability to get people to work for you because they want to. 7. Responsibility Leaders never complain, never explain. Instead of making excuses, they make progress. Great leaders see themselves as victors over circumstances rather than victims of circumstances. 3. Using the leadership criterion you discussed in the first question, in 100–500 words justify who among the three Filipino heroes deserves to be called the “true” Philippine national hero. For me, among the three Filipino heroes that deserves to be called the “true” Philippine national hero, it is Jose Rizal who should claim it as he has the qualities of a great leader. He showed courage to stand up against the Spaniards when he wrote Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. He also have the vision because he created a vision of freeing his countrymen and he passionately worked towards it by relentlessly achieving the aim of La Solidaridad, his organization, which were to work peacefully for political and social reforms, to portray the sad condition of the country so that Spain could remedy them and to champion the legitimate aspirations of the Filipino for life, democracy and happiness....
