Therapeutic Use Used to treat pneumonia (especially nosocomial infections caused by piperacillin-resistant, beta-lactamase producing bacteria.)

Contraindications/Precautions CI: Hypersensitivity to penicillins, beta-lactams, cephalosporings, or tazobactam (cross-sensitivity may occur). Precaution: Renal impairment, sodium restriction, OB,

Interactions - Probenecid: decreased renal excretion - May alter lithium excretion - Potasium-losing diuretics, corticosteroids, or amphotericin B may increase risk of hypokalemia - Increased hepatotoxicity with other hepatotoxic drugs

Evaluation of Medication Effectiveness - Resolution of s/s of infection - No sign of bacteria present - Full course of antibiotic was completed
