Summary The study is all about the Positive and Negative Effects of Online Selling as Part Time Jobs Among Selected Senior High School Students of San Ildefonso College S.Y. 2018-2019. The aim of the study is to determine the positive and negative effects on online selling as part time jobs. The respondents are composed of selected ten (10) students of Senior High School.

The researchers used qualitative research design for it is the most appropriate method for this study and since it involves collection of data with the used of interpretation. The researchers found out that there are positive and negative effects of online selling as part time jobs in terms of academic performance and health. The outcome of the study will be useful for the students most especially those who are working online while studying. Methodology

The researchers used Qualitative research design in conducting this research study entitled Positive and Negative Effects of Online Selling as Part Time Jobs among Senior High School of San Ildefonso College S.Y. 2018-2019. The researchers used the qualitative research design concerning to the interpretation and naturalistic approach to its matter. This method will assist the researchers in gaining new insights that can support this study. Statement of the Problem This study aimed to discuss the negative and positive effects of online selling as part time jobs among selected Senior High School students of San Ildefonso College. Specifically, the researcher sought to answer the following questions:

1. What are the negative effects of online selling as part time jobs in terms of: a. Academic performance b. Health 2. What are the positive effects of online selling as part time jobs in terms of: a. Academic performance b. Health 3. What are the suggested solutions and recommendations of the students on the negative effects of online selling as part time jobs among senior high school students of San Ildefonso College?

Summary of Findings Based on the data gathered in relation of the statement of the problem, the following are the significant findings: 1. Based on the data gathered, the respondents answered the positive effects of online selling on their Academic Performance and their health. 10 out of 10 of the respondents answered that they gain money to support their needs academically like projects, assignments and miscellaneous fees. Furthermore, they gain experiences and knowledge about business. In terms of health, 8 out of 10 of the respondents answered that the money they earned support their needs like food, medication and other

expense, 2 out of 10 of the respondents answered that they do not have to worry too much since they have the money to support their needs. 10 out of 10 of the respondents observed that their socialization and communication skills improved. 2. Based on the collected data the respondents answered the negative effects of online selling on their Academic Performances and their health.10 out of 10 of the respondents answered that they stress and cannot focused on their study, since they are busy on taking orders for the customers. In terms of health 6 out of 10 of the respondents answered that they become busier that they are stress, sometimes forget to eat and sleep on time, 4 out of 10 experienced having poor eyesight due to too much radiation from their gadgets. 3. The respondents suggested solutions and recommendations on the negative effects of online selling as part time jobs. Stress, forgetting to eat, lack of sleep and having poor eyesight because of radiation from cellphones is part of being an online seller, in order to engage with them, they should learn to manage their time, schedule all the necessary things to do and know their priorities. Furthermore, students who sell online should know the positive and negative effects of online selling as part time jobs which are the consequences of working while studying.

Conclusions Based on the above summary of findings of this study, the researcher came up with the following conclusions: 1. Some students from Senior High School of San Ildefonso College are online sellers. 2. Online Selling as part time jobs support their needs like allowance, foods, medication and other expenses. 3. Online Selling improves their socialization and communication skills. 4. Online Selling as part time jobs make the student gain experiences and knowledge about business. 5. Online selling as part time jobs faces a lot of consequences that online sellers become busier than before. 6. Online Selling as part time jobs have negative effects like lack of sleep and sometimes forget to eat. 7. Online selling as part time jobs have positive and negative effects on Academic Performances and Health. 8. Online selling as part time jobs have negative effects and in order to engage with them, respondents suggested to learn to manage time, schedule all the necessary things to do and know their priorities.

Recommendations Based on the result of the study the researchers recommended the following: 1. For the students, they should know all the positive and negative effects that they might encounter if they ever think of having an online business while studying. Furthermore, learn to manage time properly, prioritize important matters and schedule necessary things to do in order deal with the negative effects. 2. For the teachers, they should learn to understand the situation of the students who are selling items online as their part time jobs because they encounter different positive and negative effects which affects their academic performance and health. 3. For the parents, if changes happen to their children due to working while studying, they should understand, guide and help them in everything they will do. 4. For the School Administration, they should understand and guide the students who work as online sellers as part time jobs.

CHAPTER I PROBLEM AND BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Introduction Social media is an online platform through which people share similar interests, ideas, information and other content such as messages, images and videos that leads to the creation of online communities through the help of different social networking and microblogging sites. Many young and adolescent people are using social media as part of their everyday lives as they are using smartphones, laptops, tablets, computers and other gadgets to gain information and communicate with their family and friends. Due to various advancements and developments in social media and in technology, people are faced with new and different lifestyle. Social media makes their lives easier than before. Connecting and keeping in touch with relatives in far places can be done effortlessly. Questions are one click away from their answers. Solutions to problems are accessible. Providing and accessing information are easy and convenient. This clearly states that social media is becoming more significant. However, many people are busy with study and other work-related activities that higher their impossibility to perform other outdoor activities such as

going to mall to buy clothes, bags and household supplies. Aside from lack of time, heavy traffic added to their laziness to go outside. Some of more than 700 hundred students in San Ildefonso College are engage with purchasing products online. Online selling made its way to popularity among people with time and convenience concern. According to Caroline Peraut, a trade specialist, “Online selling is a form of electronic commerce which allows sellers to directly sell goods or services to a buyer over the Internet using a web browser.” Selling online gives people possibility to trade online, instantly, easy and safe through the help of different technologies of today. Due to lack of financial support to continue studies, some students find online selling a good opportunity to earn money that sustains their necessary needs in school and home while they are studying. According to Wikipedia, part time job is a form of employment that carries fewer hours per week than a full-time job. Students who work as online seller as their part time job face different positive and negative effects. The topic was presented to know the positive effects and give solution to the negative effects.

Statement of the Problem

This study aimed to discuss the negative and positive effects of online selling as part time jobs among selected Senior High School students of San Ildefonso College. Specifically, the researcher sought to answer the following questions: 1. What are the negative effects of online selling as part time jobs in terms of: a. Academic performance b. Health 2. What are the positive effects of online selling as part time jobs in terms of: c. Academic performance d. Health 3. What are the suggested solutions and recommendations of the students on the negative effects of online selling as part time jobs among senior high school students of San Ildefonso College?

Assumption We assume that the positive and negative effects of online selling as part time jobs among selected Senior High School students of San Ildefonso College varies defending to their experiences; where in the students encounter different positive and negative effects of online selling on their academic performance and health that will help them to be more responsible enough to work while studying.

Theoretical Framework Signaling Theory Basoglu and Hess (2014), gives a conceptual framework for business information and continues to gain widespread acceptance as the Internet provides an inexpensive channel for delivering timely financial and nonfinancial information, displaying nonfinancial content, including elements such as images, presentations, video, and social media features of the products. In terms of online selling it has a possibly effects to the students these kind of stuffs as their part time jobs. Signaling theory represents the obtained process of engaging of a student into a kind of business (online selling) without knowing what the real capability of influences perceptions of trustworthiness is. Furthermore, signaling theory perspective provides a framework to look or find out the facts about the effect of online selling to the students, This theory allows for a test of how a certain individual that must adhere to the experience of part-time work would help them obtain employment in later life and the latter fact highlighting the importance of a part-time job for students whom may not be as well served by the school system as those who are higher achievers. The Theories used are presented as the basis of the researchers in this study. Aims also to theoretical approaches make it easier to find information in a streamlined study flow and with clearer knowledge.

The Conceptual Framework shows the paradigm which will help the researchers to achieve their output that will undertake through procedure. The major concept of this research is focused on the negative and positive effects of online selling as part time jobs. As shown in Figure 1, the profile of the students in terms of gender, age and strand where the input variables of this research study. The input frame also includes the material used by the researchers which is the survey form or questionnaire. The process frame showed how the entire study has been done. It consists of Gathering information through survey form organizing, tallying, analyzing and interpreting all the data collected. The result of the study is shown in the output frame, which is the Negative and Positive Effects of Online Selling as Part Time Jobs among selected Senior High School Students of San Ildefonso College. The feedback at the bottom of this frame indicates the connection in all the frames. The researcher can go back to the previous frames if there is any problem in the output, especially in the process frame.

Significance of the Study The researchers firmly believe that the result of this study will be essential in many ways for the following:

Students. This study will increase the knowledge of students on how online selling affects the students in different areas such as the health and academic performance of the students that make online selling as part time jobs. Teachers. This study will help teachers to understand their students that are positively and negatively affected by online selling as their part time job. Parents. This study will make parents understand their role as they guide their children in home which is their first school. It will also increase the awareness of the parents if ever there are changes in the academic performance and health condition of the student who make online selling as part time job. School Administration. This study will help the school administration to build possible solutions to the negative effects this study is concern of. Future Researchers. This study will give them relevant ideas about the negative and positive effects of online selling as part time jobs in conducting further study that is modified and coherent to this study itself.

Scope and Delimitations This study was conducted in San Ildefonso College, one of the prestigious Catholic Schools in Tanay, Rizal which is specifically located at M.H. Del Pilar St. Plaza Aldea headed by the School President Msgr. Pedro C. Cañonero. It was conducted during the second semester of academic year 2018-2019.

This study is limited to five (6) grade 11 students and five (4) grade 12 students of San Ildefonso College. This study aimed to discuss the negative and positive effects of online selling as part time jobs among selected senior high school students of San Ildefonso College by choosing this ten (10). The researchers expected that the selected respondents will give their vivid information about this study, and they are knowledgeable persons to answer and share their perceptions about this study. The result of this study will be beneficial to parents, administration, future researchers and most of all to the Senior High School students and teachers.

Definition of Terms To better understand the terms used in the study, the following terms are operationally and/or conceptually defined: Academic Performance. It is the extent to which a student has achieved their short- or long-term educational goals and is being affected by different changes in the environment of students. Health. State of complete physical, mental, and social well-being not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Negative Effects. It is a change in which the action produces a bad or unfavorable result or consequences.

Online Selling.

Selling of products online that allows the seller to operate

without necessarily needing a traditional shop front that gives customer flexibility to buy products at any time of the day. Part time Job. It is something which people do on their free time to earn some extra cash or maybe pocket money if you are student. Positive Effects.

It is a change in which the action produces a good and

favorable result or consequences. Respondents. Students who participated in answering the survey questionnaire. Senior High School Students. People who were involved in the study. Senior High School Students. People who were involved in the study. Social Media.

It is an online platform through which people share similar

For further understanding of the study, the researchers made use of different reading materials related to the online selling and part time jobs. These materials such as books, magazines, newspapers thesis and other web articles are essential in broadening the knowledge of the researchers. These will also guide the researchers to achieve their target objectives by getting ideas on other related literature and make improvements as possible. The information gathered by the researchers focuses on the negative and positive effects of online selling as part time jobs among Senior High School of San Ildefonso College. This review presents the materials used such as books, magazines, journals, internet and other thesis writing to support the relevance of the presented study.
