1 CHAPTER ONE :INTRODUCTION

1.1 Introduction

Industrial training also known as practical training is a compulsory course for all student in Diploma of Computer Science and Mathematics. Industrial training has been decided for students to familiarize with working environment. Standing in every choosing company, the trainee would practice every studies scope that has learnt through the semester before. All students that graduates from UiTM would be trained according to the specific requirements and duration followed by the university policies and procedures. All the skills and knowledge will be applied together in achieving the goals and objectives at the end of internship. In addition, the replacement of students in company are based on the decision that decided by organization supervisor relating to the specific field that has been stated in resume during the applying session. For Diploma of Computer Science, an 8-week period is allocated for training at training centre that was chosen by the student itself. There was no restriction was given whether the student want to work for government agencies or private organization.

For this semester, this trainees, Amirul Luqmannuhaqqim Bin Abdul Muttaleb (2018491338) have started working in Infostructure or InfoTech Department of UiTM Campus Dungun in Terengganu branch from 12th August 2020 until 28th August 2020. The day of the student reporting for duty was based on the given date by the organization supervisor.

1.2 Industrial Training Objectives

The objective of practical training are: 

To expose students to the real work environment and atmosphere.



To practice theories learned at the university in creating and solving real-world problems related to their respective fields of specialization.



To provide exposure to the latest knowledge and technological developments applied in the industry.



To foster and strengthen the network and cooperation between the university and the industry.

The training industry specific objectives are to give an opportunity for students to: 

Understand and cultivate a responsible attitude in the real world of work.



Get industry experience appropriate to their respective areas of specialization.



Appreciate professional ethical values.



Sharpen soft skills appropriate to the work environment.



Improve communication skills.



Assess students' career abilities, knowledge and self-confidence.



Improve students' marketability to be more competitive.



Sowing, nurturing and subsequently developing entrepreneurial traits through exposure to reality and career opportunities.



Establish professional relationships in the industry.



Apply and train good report writing skills.

1.3 Objective of Industrial Training Report

Industrial Training Report is an important document to each of the students. It is often a document together with the activities which have been accomplished during the industrial training. One excellent work would represent nothing if it can’t be reported in a statement that it is excellent. Therefore, writing reports requires special attention of each student to be able to follow each and every instruction set and might reach the purposes of an institution. Each student would be grateful to be able to prepare this report in a timely manner and may achieve a report that includes all of the parts which have been studied during the training industry of their own firm.

One of the objective of this report is to provide guidance or as reference materials to students after completing their studies. Documentation their experience. This is because, student will write all the current activities and also the information about the company. Some of the activities is related to the daily life and this will make the report as their reference to solve some similar problem.

The report also presents a challenge for students to attend an interview that will be conducted by the Company by leveraging current experience.

Moreover, enable students to appreciate and bear in mind what they have got accomplished and feature skilled especially in communication throughout internship. The knowledge about the company has not to be wasted and be conclude in one documentation.

1.4 Importance of Industrial Training

As we know industry training is part of the certain syllabus for all Diploma students in Malaysia. In fact, it is one of the compulsory subjects for all students as a condition for obtaining certificate or Diploma. The main importance of industrial training is to expose students to the working environment in industry. So, it will enable students to understand the theories studied with more detailed and hands on practice within a real job situation.

Through this industrial training, all students will be given exposure fully within the real job situation. In addition, it can help students to gain their self-confidence and discover their own ability. It can also be a preparation or a preview to working environment later in future. In addition, students also participate in team work from different ages in which we need more mature and open-minded when at work. Students will also be able to familiarize themselves with receiving the advice and comply with all directions given employers and able to do a job that is entrusted with complete besides being responsible and dedicated employees. Students will be able to foster the spirit is always there to do almost any job and indirect new students also gain experience in their respective fields before to face real working environment.

At the same time, industrial training can also nurture a student’s leadership ability and responsibility to perform or execute the given task. Besides of that, the student will be more disciplined to follow rules and regulations when conducting industrial training. They would be trained for proper schedule planning and time management. This situation will be fostered responsibly and independent to students. Finally, through this industrial training student can take this as a challenge and test their perseverance and thinking abilities when facing a decision making situation. Industrial Training is a great and invaluable experience for students.

1.5 Scope of Industrial Training Agreement between the university and the host of the organization (organization that accepts students for industrial training) is necessary to determine the specific duties of students undergoing relevant industrial training. The scope of the task should provide an opportunity for students to apply the knowledge and skills learned as well as gain exposure to work practices in their respective fields of specialization.

1.6 Conclusion

In conclusion, industrial training intends to assess the student’s information, aptitudes and experiment with a particular profession of their separate fields and simultaneously produce graduates who are solid, inventive, and capable and function admirably during their workplace.

The scope and the objectives help the students to become familiar with the Industrial training that would assist the students with seeing more upon their destinations and focuses on what the experience or condition ought to have been for the students to make it simpler for the students to acknowledge on what elements and rules that they ought to have been centering. This is because of the guideline that encourages the students to keep up a decent connection with the organization itself that can causes the organization to give better accommodation and practical training for the student.

The learning cycle itself will be incorporated in the report to be submitted. The report will contain the data that the supervisor will give their recommendations and criticisms upon two months times of the training. The report needs to satisfy certain degrees for the completion. 13 | P a g e

2 CHAPTER TWO: ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

2.1 Introduction

Computer Center has existed at UiTM (then known as ITM) since 1970 to support the teaching and learning process in Mathematical and Computer Science Studies. IT services were then expanded to the entire university with the automation of several key university processes such as the student scoring process and the salary payment process.

The early 1990s saw the evolution of the Computer Center to the Integrated Information System Center (PSMB). The development of UiTM's main systems began with the existence of the Human Resource Information System (STARS) and the Financial Information System (FAIS), followed by the Student Information System and others. Computer hardware is updated according to current developments and computer networks that connect between UiTM campuses and to the internet are beginning to be established.

In 2011, the restructuring of PSMB was implemented and PSMB was renamed the Information Technology Office. From the horizontal structure, the Information Technology Office chart is more structured to the following departments:



Department of Infrastructure & IT Security



Department of System Development



Application Management Department



IT Services Department

The services provided are centralized to all UiTM one Malaysia campuses.

With the University Transformation carried out, UiTM Executive Committee Meeting (JKE) No. 12/2015 on 22nd December 2015 has decided that, from 1st January 2016 the Information Technology Office (InfoTech) is merged with the Development Office under the name of Infrastructure and Info Structure Development Office (PPII), and headed by an Assistant Vice Chancellor (Infrastructure and Info structure Development).

The Information Technology Office is known as the Infostructure Department and is divided into the following sections:

IT Policy and Policy Division

The transformation of the University was revised and strengthened through the restructuring of the divisions that supported the functions of the Infostructure Department. On 15th December 2016, the governance of the structure of the Infostructure Department is as follows:

2.2 Organization Profile The Department of Infostructure, Office of Infrastructure Development and Infostructure is committed to helping to improve the quality of IT Services to produce a campus that meets the needs and customer satisfaction in line with UiTM's vision to become a world-class University through the implementation of Quality Management System.. The service that their have provide are:

Microsoft 365 Microsoft 365 is Microsoft software hosted in a cloud environment, namely Office365. Microsoft 365 also provides 1 TB of Outlook email and OneDrive storage. All UiTM staff and students are eligible for this facility.

Adobe CC Adobe Creative Cloud or Adobe CC is a collection of software produced by Adobe Systems that is also hosted in a cloud environment. Apart from Acrobat, this software collection is focused on the use of inventions such as graphic design, video editing, web development, photography and the like. All staff can apply for Adobe software at https://bsu.uitm.edu.my/.

Computer software UiTM and KPM have provided shared software needed for academic and administrative use. Please contact us via the url https://bsu.uitm.edu.my/ to get the required software.

Web Hosting Web Hosting is a type of internet hosting service that allows PTJ to create their website that can be accessed through the World Wide Web.

Tele-trial Tele-conference or video conferencing equipment and services have been provided as one of the cost-saving measures of the university. Starting from use for meetings, tele-conferences are now also used for academic activities such as student interviews and viva-voce. Infostruktur helps in preparing the tele-conference session to be held.

Email UiTM uses Lotus email as the official email. Each UiTM staff is given an email account. An email account is also allocated to each PTJ. If you need additional email facilities, please use Office 365 email. Please contact us if you need assistance via url units.uitm.edu.my.

Rental Computers Computer rental is a procurement of services involving computer equipment where users can use a rental computer at UiTM. The supplier is responsible for supplying the computer and ensuring that the computer can always be used during the specified rental period. Each Responsibility Center (PTJ) needs to make rental computer planning at their respective PTJs. Rental computer damage complaint: http://vms.uitm.edu.my

Computer Grant The ICT Hardware Grant provided is intended to save and reduce the management and operation costs of Universiti Teknologi MARA. This grant is given to all Academic Staff and Management and Professional Groups grade 41 and above. ICT Hardware Grant can be applied for in the system: https://units.uitm.edu.my (Grant Menu).

Technical Assistance Any application for technical assistance can be channeled through our Help Desk system at url units.uitm.edu.my. We will contact you promptly to resolve the issue either online or on location. 17 | P a g e

UiTM card This UiTM card is also an identity for UiTM citizens. Staff and students who are inactive or have completed service at UiTM are not allowed to make this card. Student personality is used to make cards.
