SOSC1960 Discovering Mind and Behavior Quiz 1 Guidelines Time 10:45 am – 11:35 am, 21 October 2019 Venue LT-B Please read the seating plan posted outside the entrances to find your seat. Instructions This quiz contributes to 30% of your course grade. It comprises 40 multiple-choice questions. For each question, pick the most appropriate response from 4 choices. You will get 0.75 point for each correct response. Incorrect responses or blank items will not be penalized. The time limit is 50 minutes. Full mark is 30 points. Mark your responses on the answer sheet with an HB pencil. On both the question paper and the answer sheet, write down your name and student number. On the answer sheet, also write down the version number of the question paper. No early dismissal is allowed. No dictionary is allowed. Coverage This quiz covers the following topics: scientific method; perception; circadian rhythm; consciousness; emotions; memory; learning; rationality; intelligence; and creativity. Only materials discussed in the lectures are tested. The recommended readings and further readings are not required, but reading them certainly can help you better understand the lecture materials. Academic integrity We will thoroughly investigate every suspect cheating case. Make-up quiz A make-up quiz will be granted to absentees with a medical condition (a testimony by a medical doctor should be presented within 48 hours after the quiz). Other requests for a make-up quiz will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The make-up quiz will consist of both multiple-choice questions and essay questions. Regulations Arrive on time; no additional time will be given to students who arrive late. Bring your student card, some HB pencils and an eraser. Mobile phones and other electronic devices have to be switched to silent mode and placed under your seat with other personal belongings....
