It has achieved epidemic proportions in the Philippines and is one of the top targets on the president's strategy. However, there are several questions that need to be addressed in order to come up with a systematic program to resolve this issue. This established the economic, social and political background of the use of illicit drugs in the Philippines. The prevalence of illicit drugs in the Philippines has not been exactly established. However, UNODC figures suggest that the annual prevalence of marijuana is 3.5 per cent, amphetamine-type stimulants 2.8 per cent, and ecstasy 1.01 per cent of the population over 15 years of age. According to the International Drugs Control Policy Survey 2003, it is believed that there are 1.8 million opioid users in the Philippines, or 2.2 percent of the population. There are a lot of varieties that affect the illicit prevalence of narcotics in the Philippines, such as geographical factors that make patrolling and defending the country from traffickers of methamphetamine and marijuana planters difficult; economic factors such as poverty; social factors such as the phenomenon of overseas contract workers; media penetration and the deteriorating moral structure of the community. https://www.drugabuse.gov/international/abstracts/social-political-economic-contextillegal-drug-abuse-in-philippines Philippines Drug War Trade in Drugs is one of the world's greatest challenges for almost every country.
