Why Study at Choice Business College (CBC)? I have done extensive research (online, visiting institutions, educational fairs and educational portals) of possible courses and institutions to study at during my stay in Australia. I applied and have been successful in an application to study for Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management at Choice Business College (CBC). Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) is attached.

I have decided to study at the CBC because the CBC focuses on hands-on education and study material is relevant in the modern work environment. It is also appealing that CBC has many resources to ensure that the studies can be successfully transitioned to the workplace. Some other reasons of deciding to study at CBC are experienced and passionate teacher, smaller class sizes, CBD location, supportive strength-based atmosphere, diverse course options, modern and state of the art study facilities and affordable quality education.

CBC aims to provide the highest level of education with a focus on professionalism. Every campus has computers, library resources and dedicated study areas. CBC provide excellent student support, interactive and creative training courses. CBC is one of the market leaders in superior vocational education.

CBC deliver courses and other learning experiences that will empower students to learn fully, effectively, efficiently, and with great satisfaction. CBC aims to fulfil this mission, with a commitment to deliver quality training programs for learners through established collaborations with industry.

CBC’s innovative courses are delivered by highly qualified staff who have abundant experience and continuous involvement in their fields. CBC is committed to providing and promoting non-discriminatory, inclusive practices and processes to provide equal opportunities for all students to achieve their learning outcomes.

CBC also has latest ONLINE Learning Portal which is essential for online studies during COVID-19 ( http://cbc.edu.au/about/) Why not study in my Homeland, India? There is a wide range of options when it comes to Commercial Cookery and Hospitality Management Programs. There are few different paths I could take. I did some analysis regarding these fields of study. I conducted certain searches regarding cookery work in India and found that there are few universities offering this specific degree program but none can match the quality of education to that of Australian Colleges and they are not reputed enough that would help my career goals. India’s Educational programs are also hindered by the huge collaboration gap between universities and services regarding foreign affairs. The blight of basic education in our educational institutions is also pathetic.

Australia Vs the UK and the USA

All three countries - Australia, the UK and the USA are recognised worldwide and have a good reputation for the high-quality education they provide. Australia has a world-class education system and boasts many universities and colleges.

The decision and choosing Australia as the most appropriate destination to study internationally

was

not

taken

lightly

(https://www.studyinaustralia.gov.au/english/why-australia). I considered the UK and the USA, however, neither were viable options as the INR/GBP and INR/USD exchange rates (https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/) influences affordability greatly and would limit the level of qualifications that I want to achieve prior to returning to India. For all these reasons, I have finally decided to look for study options in Australia rather than in my home country or any other country.

Some Other Benefits of Studying Internationally I regard the opportunity to study internationally, while being able to live in another country and experiencing different cultures while being exposed to a first world environment, as a huge privilege. International qualifications are highly regarded in India. In addition, when I return, I will have exposure to perhaps, a different manner of dealing with customers than what Indian qualified Chefs might be used to. International exposure, regardless of the nature, will, without a doubt, give me an edge when I return to India.

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management are not being offered at most of the reputed and registered institutions in India (https://www.ugc.ac.in/stateuniversity.aspx)

and

(https://www.ugc.ac.in/centraluniversity.aspx). Therefore, I will have a competitive advantage of studying these courses in Australia before returning to India.

Similar courses offered in India focus on development of own personal traits and on developing personal skills as opposed to focusing on how to achieve an operationally

effective business plans while evaluating and applying solutions. The outcomes intend to enable one to lead as a resilient, resourceful and confident person (focus on me), organisational health and well-being (we) and public value and social impact (they).

Benefits of My Previous Education I am intending to pass Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management with High Distinction. My previous studies will help me in preparing for assignments, quizzes, presentations and exams for my Commercial Cookery and Hospitality Management courses.

My previous qualification will also be useful when I will return to India, after completion of my studies at CBC in starting my Restaurant business. I have learnt about business management in general during Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning).

Market Research of Business Prospects in India I have done research about opening a restaurant business in India. I was born and brought up in India and I have first hand information about restaurants in general. I have been discussing with my parents and friends in India. They have done market research on my behalf about number of restaurants in the area and their weakness and strengths. One common thing which pretty much every restaurant is missing is cleanliness and quality of service. People around the world are more careful about their overall hygiene and prefer to visit restaurants which maintain high level of cleanliness, quality of product and service.

Restaurant business in India is one of those businesses that capture a lot of interest and seeks passion. Opening a fast-food joint or a multi-cuisine restaurant, both are

lucrative

business

options

in

many

aspects

(https://www.statista.com/topics/6593/restaurant-industry-in-india/) I have also researched about successful business plan for opening hospitality business in India (https://www.ibef.org/industry/tourism-hospitality-india.aspx). As India has over 1.35 Billion population, restaurants are always busy.

I will implement policies and procedures in my business which I will learn from studying at CBC. I will focus on high level cleanliness, outstanding quality of food, excellent service standards and promotions which Indian hospitality market is missing in general. Hence, I see a great opportunity for successful business in India after completion of my studies.

Economic Status of India Since the 2000s, India has made remarkable progress in reducing absolute poverty. Poverty levels are estimated to have declined from 21.6 percent in 2011 to 13.4 percent in 2015 (at the international poverty line), lifting more than 90 million people out of extreme poverty. In recent years it has undertaken important reforms to spur economic growth. The response of the Government of India to the COVID-19 outbreak has been swift and comprehensive. The government implemented a national lockdown to contain the health emergency. This was followed by a comprehensive policy package to mitigate the impact on the poorest through various social protection measures as well as liquidity and financial support for small and medium enterprises. (https://www.worldbank.org/en/country/india/overview). India has emerged as the fastest growing major economy in the world and is expected to be one of the top three economic powers in the world over the next 1015 years, backed by its robust democracy and strong partnerships. India’s GDP (at constant 2011-12 prices) was estimated at Rs. 33.14 trillion (US$ 452.74 billion) for the second quarter of FY2020-21, against Rs. 35.84 trillion (US$

489.62

billion)

in

the

second

quarter

of

FY2019-20

(https://www.ibef.org/economy/indian-economy-overview). Since Independence India has moved from a moderate growth path of the first three decades (1950 to 1980) to a higher growth trajectory since 1980s. Over the last two and a half decades, India has emerged as one of the fastest growing economies of the world, averaging about 6 percent growth rate per annum and ranking of the country in terms of size of the economy, especially in Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) Terms have improved (https://www.ukessays.com/essays/economics/the-impact-ofpolitical-stability-in-india-on-economic-growth-economics-essay.php).

Conclusion Upon completion of my courses at CBC, I will undoubtedly be equipped with a wide range of additional skills and knowledge which will be highly valuable in operating Restaurant business in India. I intend returning to India upon completion of the Commercial Cookery and Hospitality Management studies. I am beloved child of my parents and I miss them a lot and they will be so happy to see me back in India. I also miss my childhood friends who will also be so happy to see me back in India. As mentioned previously, international qualifications from first world countries are highly regarded in India. I am of the view that having an international qualification in Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning), Commercial Cookery and Hospitality Management from a first world country will give me the necessary edge to run a successful Restaurant business in India.
