7-2 Short Answer: Scientific Developments What importance does the topic of your news story and the question that you developed in Project 2 have to you and society as a whole?

The news story that chose (click here for story) appealed to me because of my experience with COVID-19 and Vitamin D deficiency. My question to research is: Could Vitamin D play a vital role in the fight against COVID-19? This is an interesting, important question, and one that will determine the course of treatment, possible prevention against COVID-19. By determining the role of Vitamin D in the fight against COVID-19, doctors can test levels and make recommendations on dosages so people can have a better chance of surviving this infection with less severity of symptoms. Many things are unknown about SARS-Cov 2, the actual virus that is known as COVID-19. Doctors are proposing new theories, vaccine trials are underway and the prevailing questions are:  

How do we reduce the prevalence of COVID-19? Why is there such a wide disparity in the symptoms and patient experiences?

By researching this question, we begin to dispel the conspiracy theories and create treatment and prevention regimens backed by science, not political or conspiracy rhetoric. This will benefit society as a whole because a lot of people do not understand the nutrients or lack thereof contained within our diets and the direct correlation to the health of our immune system. By understanding this relationship we can begin to make informed choices about our diets and supplements....
