Aligning a Healthcare Organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values to Its Marketing Efforts Introduction Prompt An organizations mission and vision statement offer an important theme that helps to align all with the organization and therefore warranting that everyone is steering towards a single purpose. Its emphases on the attention of marketing and comprehends what the organization is make an effort to achieve. Vision echoes the model image of the healthcare organization in future. Challenges Some challenges experienced is the struggle to simplify the mission, vision and values of any of these organizations. Each institution under the given organizations hold its own vision, mission and values. Of each of these organization some had all three, a mission, vision and values, while others had one or more. I found that interesting when researching these different organizations as my first guess would be, they would have at least 2 of these. For example, the skilled nursing faculty and the ambulatory only had a mission statement and values, while the university hospital has all three. “An organization without a clear, achievable mission is like a traveler without a road map” (Cellucci et al., 2014, p.32). Commonality A commonality that was seen throughout was that all organizations showed its mission in the relation to excellence in the quality it delivered and the excellence in patientcare it delivered. It focused around promises made and promises it kept. In Connecticut Children’s Hospital it focused on improving the health of the child emotionally and physically and that was seen in others like Athena Healthcare as it stated to provide the highest quality of care and customer service to our residents and their families. Alignment: When the organizations are expressing their mission, vision ,value statements it is related to the marketing strategy. It supports the strategy to attract more patients towards that institution. By making promises and then keeping them, they are living up to what they are saying they will do. “Clarity of values and a mission and vision that clearly delineate and set the organization apart from others of its kind are the lenses through which marketing can look to understand and

align itself with the organization’s internal and external environments” (Cellucci et al., 2014, p.34).
