INTRODUCTION “Don’t stop when you’re tired, stop when you’re done” is my motto every time I begin something, whether it is schoolwork, sports, or hobbies such as painting, I always remember this quote.
II. Attention, TIA, Credibility, Thesis
Like many throughout the covid pandemic, I developed a new hobby and got into painting, I have always wanted to customize shoes with paint, but I would never make time for it.
III. Before the pandemic I’d play go to school, play soccer, and hang out with my friends. When the pandemic came and everything closed, it allowed me to focus more on painting. IV. The paint on my paintings represents my dedication and persistence through every detail and minute spent.

BODY I.
When I started painting, I painted an old shoe I had laying around, and after a few hours of painting the result was terrible. However, this did not put me down, instead I saw this as an opportunity to get better. A. With all the time I now had to focus on painting, I became very persistent and started painting on everything I could paint on. From shoes to wallets and

phone cases, I did not stop. 1. My first successful custom was a wallet I painted, although it was a very simple design, I loved it, and from then on, I became dedicated to making every custom better than the previous one. 2. Therefore, the more I painted, the more I would challenge myself, and the

more I would challenge myself the more hours I would spend on a custom. B. Throughout this process I would sometimes find myself wanting to quit or cut

corners in the middle of a custom just because of the number of hours I would spend. 1. Despite the temptation of compromising detail on a custom to finish it faster, I would always remind myself to not stop when I was tired and finish until I was done with my initial design. 2. Moreover, the feeling of gratification I would get after finishing a custom

without cutting any corners made me feel so accomplished. (Insert Transition Here) Now that we know more about me and my customizing hobby, how do my paints reflect my dedication and persistence?

II. At the beginning of my customizing journey my customs were simple and not the best looking. A. Nonetheless, I kept practicing and challenging myself with more complex designs to get better and more comfortable at painting. I decided to increase the

complexity of every custom I made by trying out something new every time. Whether it was more fine lines, gradients, more colors, etc. I knew that progressive overloading and consistency was the only way to get better. B. Additionally, despite the good experiences I’ve had with customizing I sometimes felt like quitting, but then I look back at my old customs and my

current customs and realize how much I’d improved. That’s why I try to spend no more than three weeks without working on something to stay consistent. When I am painting details on a custom, I try my best to not cut corners and compromise details just to finish faster. Why? III. Every shoe or object I paint will not only reflect my creativity and skill, but most importantly, it will reflect my dedication in every single color, character, or line. A. Sometimes I do not get the right shade of a color and only notice it until it is

already on the shoe. Knowing that repainting that area again could set me back hours. I do it regardless of whether I’m in a time rush.

B. Adhering to consistency and progressive overloading with all my customs has definitely paid off, making me not only better at customs, but also more patient, and efficient.
