GREENWASHING -> presumes that a company doesn’t take meaningful steps (or not to the adequate extent) toward a more environmentally friendly way of production/service, rather spends expenses of transformation on advertising -> untrue or partially ‘green’ branding used for further destructive activities and maximising profit

DEVELOPMENT POLICIES – URBAN POLICY * Developments, mainly urban planning and developments require the change of the environment -> sustainability elements -> balance of natural and built environment * ::Local Agenda 21:: - way of thinking (management style, lifestyle, political culture, involving stakeholders into the decision-making process - participation) LOCAL AGENDA 21 * Activities: 1. Environment and development issues: initiatives focusing on the protection of nature 2. Technical and scientific approach (solutions) 3. Sustainable development -> involving the local community, local interest groups and citizens (policies on environmental protection) ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY * definition of classical sustainable dev’t has been forming continuously; its meaning going by current decision makers’ world views and expectations, but it has become a benchmark in decision-making processes and been integrated into *laws* and *strategies* * development means: increase of production and consumption, namely economic growth became organising principle of Western culture * Accdg. to mind and values, this is what we call development and the base of our civilisation: newer, better, bigger, faster * it’s worth noting that the current neoliberal economic model can work only until it can grow

GAME * regular emission tests for transportation vehicles * 50% reduction of smog by 2022 -> open to negotiation * tightening sanctions on factory owners who don’t abide by the minimal req’s of the city * mayor has to make uniform minimum req’t for factories for them to function * financial sanctions * training, educational seminars to people regarding smog * social campaign of measuring the air pollution * research findings regarding the amount of people who have skin problems, respiratory problems that can be connected to increased air pollution * endorse bike rentals for the city * collaborate with bigger green NGOs * question the company about the materials * inspection of the materials and the tools that they use * fundraising for buying filters to be fixed on the top of the factory chimneys * reducing gas heating in apartments * and instead, replacing with solar panels for heating (+ electricity)...
