Description

Alhambra: 1) AlhambraDeGranada.org Cuando: The first historical documents known about the Alhambra date from the 9th century and they refer to Sawwar ben Hamdun who, in the year 889, had to seek refuge in the Alcazaba, a fortress, and had to repair it due to the civil fights that were destroying the Caliphate of Cordoba, to which Granada then belonged. This site subsequently started to be extended and populated, although not yet as much as it would be later on, because the Ziri kings established their residence on the hill of the Albaicin. Quien: In spite of this, it was not until the arrival of the first king of the Nasrid dynasty, Mohammed ben Al-Hamar (Mohammed I, 1238-1273), in the 13th century, that the royal residence was established in the Alhambra. This event marked the beginning of the Alhambra's most glorious period. Yusuf I (1333-1353) and Mohammed V (1353-1391) are responsible for most of the constructions of the Alhambra that we can still admire today. 2) https://www.britannica.com/topic/Alhambra-fortress-Granada-Spain Qué: Alhambra, palace and fortress of the Moorish monarchs of Granada, Spain. The name Alhambra, signifying in Arabic “the red,” is probably derived from the reddish colour of the tapia (rammed earth) of which the outer walls were built.

Catedral-Mezquita de Cordoba 1) https://www.mezquitadecordoba.org/en/ “Five years after the conquest, the Arabs distinguished Cordoba as the capital of the lands of AlAndalus. The Roman bridge was rebuilt, the walls were restored and on the left bank of the Guadalquivir was founded the suburb, called Secunda, today known as Campo de la Verdad. In Cordoba, a primitive mosque was founded when the Umayyad and Abbasid were finally separated after a bloody struggle. In the year 756, the Umayyad prince Abd al-Rahman defeated the Abbasid emir and rose to power as the sole authority of Andalusia, having become Abd alRahman I. He promoted the establishment of the mosque in 786. His successors fostered the development of culture and in Córdoba mystics, oriental masters, mathematicians, doctors, philosophers and poets settled down. The mosque was completed and enlarged by Abd alRahman II.” Street Art 1) https://guerilla-art.mx/yescka/ “I believe that street art is important, because it’s a way to free oneself from violence and oppression.” “It’s important for me do make art on the streets because it’s an important platform for denunciation.”

2) https://guerilla-art.mx/huyendo-por-una-mejor-vida/ “In 2011, 1500 people lost their lives during their escape over the Mediterranean Sea. For many people the Mediterranean Sea is a popular vacation destination, whereas for others it is a border to a better life. Poverty, as well as ethnic and political persecution drives people onto old, broken, and overcrowded fishing boats on a dangerous path to Europe. Even when the boat withstands the rigor and its passengers do not drown, another obstacle awaits them. Organizations such as Frontex, who are responsible for the EU border patrol, force refugee boats to return instead of checking their asylum application. In many cases this is the same as a death sentence.”...
