CLASIFICACIÓN DEL TEXTO: historical document CONTEXTUALIZACIÓN: a week before its publication in “The Times” newspaper. Ireland was suffering the Potato famine, mostly due to the bad administration and policy of the British government. Although Ireland is a fertile land, irish people were displaced by English people to non-fertile lands. Potato indispensable to survive, although there was a potato disease. They lived in poor conditions. There was religious persecution. Due to all this, Irish people wanted independence. British government’s measures were not enough.
