1. Explain one intrinsic reason why Leanne Tuey may have been motivated to help Michael. An intrinsic reason can be Intrinsic Motivation. Intrinsic Motivation is being self motivated and desiring to perform a task for the sake of it. An intrinsic reason why Leanne Tuey may have been motivated to help Michael is because she feels bad for him and everything he’s been though. She does not receive anything she doesn’t already have or something that she needs but she simply helps him through the goodness of her heart. Further, it is revealed to the audience by one of her friends that she enjoys doing charity work as it makes her feel good. She also provides Michael with the tools he needs to become emotionally and financially independent, to live a mature adult life. Thus concluding, why Leanne Tuey may have been motivated to help Michael for the sake of as she pities him.

2. Explain one extrinsic reason why Leanne Tuey may have been motivated to help Michael. An extrinsic reason can be Extrinsic Motivation. Extrinsic Motivation can be defined as performing a task due to external factors such as rewards. An extrinsic reason why Leanne Tuey may have been motivated to help Michael is because she wants him to become a football player. Michael becoming a football player enables her intentions of Michael attending the same university as her and her husband to be accomplished. She works very hard because she wants Michael to have a 2.5 GPA as that is what is required to get into the university she once attended. Lastly, she wants Michael to become a football player and helps him because she may feel a sense of guilt with the wealth and privilege she has. So helping Michael benefits her as it takes the guilt of her chest.

3. Which character best demonstrates “driving for perfection” theory? The character that best demonstrates the theory of “driving for perfection” is Leanne Tuey. Leanne Tuey best embodies this theory because She is a single minded woman who sees it as her duty to help people in need. When she meets Michael she goes out of her way to ensure he is comfortable. Further, she set a goal, which can be seen as vey challenging since Michael GPA is very low and the chance of him getting into a University is very slim, for Michael to attend the university she once did, University of Mississippi. She knows how to motivate Michael so he can become a better football player and she also finds ways to ensure he improves his grades. Even after she is told by countless people that her actions of kindness towards Michael is more than enough, she continues to help him because she has not reached her level of satisfactory in helping him (accomplished her goals she set to help him).

4. Which theory do you think best explains why coaches recruit potentially great players? The theory “driving for perfection” best explains why coaches recruit potentially great players. Coaches want to be able to accomplish their goal of winning much easier. Furthermore, by recruiting potentially great players, the coaches can put in less effort since the players already are vey skilled. The players also represent who the coach is as a coach/ teacher. If the team is made of many good players it would express that the coach trained

them very well and the coach is a very good trainer. The coaches also want talented players because they could make lots of money for their programs. In the movie, football coaches from Division I colleges try to convince Michael to attend their schools. The coaches can be seen wearing expensive suits, spending hours trying to flatter Michael and his family, and traveling across the country, all in the hopes of wooing Michael because he is vey talented. The coaches go to great measures to ensure Michael picks their school and program because they want to be seen as the best school for football scholarships. And having Michael on their team would express how much talent their school possesses....
